The FicSix have been almost bursting with excitement for this week’s post – an author interview with none other than the sweetest, sexiest comedy author in the Twifandom, Nolebucgrl!!

We asked award-winning, Sportsward-creating, cat lover Nolebucgrl to choose questions from a selection about Twilight, Twific, the writing process, herself and what she thinks about our Beautiful Boy. With the graciousness that we all love her for, Nolebucgrl answered 18 questions, including giving us a rec of her own.

How did you first come to read Twilight – and answer this part honestly, we won’t judge – how many times have you read it? 

Believe it or not, I was recommended Twilight on a sports message board from this girl named Dee. She and I had a lot of the same tastes in TV shows and she told me she thought I’d like it. I read it and never looked back. As to how many times I read it? Countless. I didn’t stumble on fic for about 8 months after I read the books and I couldn’t get E&B out of my head and read them over and over.

If you could change one thing about a Twilight book, what would it be? 

Well, Sacrificial Lamb was my attempt to change what I didn’t like from the originals and make it more what I had in my head.  In a nutshell, I didn’t like how “neat” everything was in BD.  I felt Bella should have to give up some things in order to get her eternity with Edward.  I also wanted him to want to change her, not change her because he had to.  I thought that was a cop out.

Are you in the Twicloset? Why?/Why not? 

Nope.  I’m very proud of what I read/write and everybody knows about it.

What was the first fanfic story that you read and how did you find it (and the fandom)?

Like many, mine was Wide Awake and I found it through two friends talking about it on my blog.  I had posted about how I couldn’t stop reading Twilight and they told me to get into fic.  At first I resisted because I feared reading an Edward that wasn’t the one I knew and loved but they got me curious by talking about WA over and over and finally I gave in and never looked back.

If you were invited on a press tour with the Twilight cast, where in the world would you most want to go and why?

Sydney, Australia.  I don’t know if I had a concrete why, I’ve just always wanted to go there.  I love koalas and kangaroos and it just looks like a stunning place to visit.  I don’t like opera but I’d still love to go to their opera house.

What inspired you to start writing fanfiction?

After a couple of straight months of reading fic, I decided to give it a try with the encouragement of the same two who got me into reading it in the first place.  I’d had my idea of how BD should go in my head and one day I just started putting it on the computer.  Then I was told to post it on fanfic and the reviews started coming and I was hooked.

Is there any particular phrase or scenario that you avoid in your writing? Why?

Scenarios, sure.  I don’t write non-canon pairings.  I may reference them prior to the inevitable E&B meet, but I don’t actually describe them because they ick me out.  I do avoid a certain word, like penis and cunt.  Those I do not find attractive at all.

Do you prefer writing EPOV or BPOV? What is the difference for you?

It depends on my mood.  I love writing both, really, though I tend to get the most compliments on EPOV 🙂

Do you have a particular process when it comes to your writing, perhaps a certain mood, environment or music? 

Honestly not really.  I tend to write in the morning or early evening, though, with the TV on, just because I can’t write in silence.  Quiet doesn’t work for me.  I need background noise but music could suck me in so I just do the TV.

We’re so excited you’re going to be published! What can you tell us about the book, the journey and how you are feeling about it all.

Thank you!  The book is a romantic comedy much like most of my fic is.  It’s an office romance that the female protagonist tries to fight against with all she’s worth.  She’s been hurt in her younger days and she put up a wall that nobody breaches until she’s paired with an out of towner on a big project.  He’s everything she’s avoided since her college boyfriend cheated on her.  She tends to date down, as it were, hooking up with nerdy guys who won’t tempt her beyond a one night stand.  I think, well, hope, that you guys will like her.  She’s a lot of fun.

Have you met fandom people in real life? Were they what you expected?

Yes, I have and it was a lot of fun.  They were all that I expected and truly I have made some great friends through this fandom.  I hope to meet a lot more!

If you were given a chance, would you enter a reality TV show and if so, which one?

Hell no, unless I had the talent to be on The Voice. And let’s face it, the reason I would be there would be to meet Adam Levine.  Yum.

If you won the lottery tomorrow, how would you like to spend your days?

Since my mega millions were stolen by some jerks in other states, I am sad to answer this question.  Definitely I would spend my days writing.  No work to get in the way.  Also I’d hire a personal trainer to get my ass in shape.  I’d also look into founding an animal shelter/charity for dogs and cats.

What movie do you watch again and again?

SOOO many.  Breakfast Club and 16 Candles any time they’re on.  Currently watching Pitch Perfect over and over again.  Heathers and Pump Up the Volume (yes I had a thing for a young Christian Slater).  The Hangover.

What in life are you most passionate about?

Sports and writing.  Football is definitely my passion and I live for the weekends during the fall/winter.  The approach of spring goes nothing but depress me.  And of course writing is a passion for me, or I wouldn’t do so much of it. 🙂

What are you proudest of in your life?

That I’m actually going to have a published novel.  It was a dream that I never thought would be a reality and the fact that I’m there at all just stuns me.

If you’re in were trapped in a lift with Robert Pattinson for five precious minutes, what would you tell him about the mad world that we all inhabit?

I would tell him that while the fandom does have its share of the crazies we all know he fears, there are really very many delightful, normal women as well that just want the best for him.  Many disagree about just what that might be, but most agree that we want him to be happy and wish him much success.

If you could have your own cloned Rob, made to your specifications, which of these would your heartthrob be?

Or do you have a favourite -ward / Rob of your own you’d like to share?

Hmm from those pics, I’d go suave Rob, which is also more of a CEO Rob.  Though from my stories, you know I most prefer Sportswards, not that he’s played one 🙂

I love a bunch of stories, of course.  My current fave is probably Wisp by Cris.  It’s well written, different from any other story I’ve read and it tugs at the heart strings, featuring a Bella that’s been through unspeakable trauma and an Edward that takes her in and tries to reach her.  Very uplifting, sad and sweet at the same time.

Well you took an innocent girl’s life, did you expect her to just say thank you and fuck you into oblivion? Yes, stupid fucking inner voice, I expected exactly that.”

Edward really is clueless but completely smitten. His arrogant ways are quickly levelled by a determined Bella who introduces him to a whole new world-including tv vampires, and her slightly off-centre view of life. He grouchily caters to her every whim.

Okay, so, here’s the part where I admit that I’m rarely tempted to read Vamp fics. I know, quite the confession for a Twilight fan! But Nolebucgrl really gives us a great view of their relationship deepening and their trust growing; giving us lots of laugh out loud moments along the way. There were so many quotes or insights I wanted to include, but it would just spoil the story to know too much more!

If you haven’t read it before or usually choose AH over AU, do yourself a favour and read A Taste of Innocence – if you have read it before, revisit it just to remind yourself how humour should be written. Nolebucgrl has the lightest of touches and never has to try too hard to have me laughing.

I’ve always been an Edward/Bella girl, *come closer as I lower my voice* while this Bella is a sweetie, the connection that makes me ooh and aah the most, is to be found in the Edward and Rainbow relationship. I snicker at how possessive Rainbow is of her Edward, while cute is the only word for him, especially when she rides on his shoulder.

Rainbow may be a kitten, but she is still a woman female and falls under the same spell as the rest of us with this sweet, pussy-whispering Cockyback. Before long, Rainbow has Edward eating out of the palm of her hand, err… wrapped around her little finger, err… catering to her every whim.

Nolebucgrl has written an eclectic supporting cast.  There is the most unusual and mostly stoned Jasper, a grandmother from hell known as GrandMonster, and a hilarious moustached fan-girling Charlie.

If you want a fabulous read with enough hot lemons to cure a cold, witty dialogue, clever plots, cuteness to make you sigh and romance to make your swoon, look no further than the award winning Sideline Collision.

First & Ten ~ Bella Swan is an aspiring sports writer and her first big assignment is to interview the league’s biggest, not to mention hottest, quarterback. Will Edward Cullen school her in the rules of the game or will she teach him a thing or two?

Straight off the bat (or should I say ball?) I will tell you I knew nothing about American Football – nada, zip, zilch, didley squat – when I first read First & Ten. But you know what? Even if you don’t know a damn thing about the NFL, you still fall in love with this story, and by story, I mean Edward – a.k.a the original and best Quarterbackward (and yes, Cockyback comes in a very close second).

The very first chapter of First and Ten we meet Bella, a sports journalist who has been that very day promoted to reporter.  Her very first interviewee?  None other than the Quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, Edward Cullen.  Here are Bella’s thoughts heading into that interview..

“Edward Cullen was the hottest quarterback in the league, both on and off the field. He averaged 350 yards and three touchdowns a game, and that was usually on an off night. He was built like Michelangelo’s David, ripped and chiseled as if molded by the Gods themselves. I mentally scolded myself for sounding like a ridiculous fangirl but I couldn’t help it and I certainly wasn’t alone. The Cardinals had sold out every single game since they drafted Edward Cullen three years ago…

…His movie star good looks were just part of the package of course, but they were a very attractive part indeed. He was 6’4″ tall with piercing green eyes and riotous hair that was a mix of browns, reds and even some blond. His face was impossibly handsome; chiseled cheekbones, a jaw that could cut glass and lips that were incredibly bitable. And his smile…his smile lit up a room. He exuded charm and charisma and was an interviewer’s dream.”

All together now…  *SIGH*

First & Ten’s Bella is very special, she has that gorgeous mix of everyday girl and intelligent savvy reporter, I love how Nolebucgrl has given her traits like her filter (or should I say, lack of filter) that blurts out the funniest things in front of Edward, her affection for her mad best friend Alice, and best of all, her passion for her job and the sport she loves so much.

I can’t go any further without mentioning Emmett.  Emmett has always been one of my favourite characters, but F&T Emmett is my favourite fan fic Emmett – no competition! Some of the things he gets up to had me rolling in laughter! Actually, the full cast of characters in F&T are epic – hence the reason, *whispers* I may have re-read it several times (please, don’t judge me).

First & Ten is one of those stories that will make you happy, it is so fulfilling, beautifully written, and for me, educational.  I can now sit down and watch the Super Bowl and tell my DH what is happening – thanks Nolebucgrl!!

I reviewed these sweet, sexy stories way back when they were baby WiPs (for another site), and my love for them both has not diminished since then. They are such a delight to read – a little bit of happy escapism from the ups and downs of daily life. Nolebucgrl’s gentle humour, her optimism and her belief in the power of love – whatever medium delivers it – washes over you until you feel as though you might actually be able to tackle the laundry at the end of a full day’s slog, after all.

Bella Swan is an ordinary girl studying to be a teacher, avoiding bad dates, recovering from a nasty breakup and entertaining her friends with her relentless passion for one swoon-worthy Edward Cullen, Hollywood’s hottest movie star. (Ring any bells?)

Being the dedicated fan she is, Bella’s analysed every word Edward ever said in public. (Sounding familiar yet?) She gets so good, when he reveals that he plays WWF in a TV interview, she guesses his user name. He takes her challenge, they play, and the result is the most entertaining long distance romance you ever read.

Somehow, Nolebucgrl manages to make Edward and Bella’s instant connection over first WWF, then email, texting, phone, Skype – you name it – utterly believable. Despite being worlds apart, you just know these two are going to make it to their kinky HEA. Come to mention it, you are convinced from the start that the incredibly strong supporting cast are going to get theirs too, however unlikely it seems for poor Alice. Ah, poor Alice. *smirks and winks*

Read and dream, or re-read and dream; vicarious pleasure never felt so good.

Rob’s Mates Are Great…Marcus Foster

Thank you all for the enormous response to Monday’s post! It was shared all over Facebook and had around 2,000 views. I really appreciate all your kind words about our self-control and respect for Rob. We tried as hard as we could to be good RobH00rs in public! But I really want to make sure that Marcus gets his due, so, enough about that.

I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Marcus Foster at the Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles both on Friday and Saturday. I had never seen him live but I just really love his musical style. At this point, he is my favorite of the Britpack. (not including Rob of course, he’s always number one) I’ll let you know in a few weeks if that remains that way. (Yes, more Britpack lovin’ for me!) Marcus really reminds me the most of Rob. He has that gravelly, bluesy kind of feel to his voice.  And he is very passionate about his music!

Marcus’ original music was mostly acoustic and I was pleasantly surprised with how much I loved the new stuff on electric guitar with a band. There was no band on tour with him, just a keyboard player named Jack (get away driver on Sat). Friday night’s show had a little mess up on a new song. But on Saturday it was perfect! You wouldn’t even have known if he hadn’t brought attention to it.

Marcus is so passionate on stage, he is fun to watch. He has this little scream thing he does. And the more you clap and scream, the more he will do it. He certainly enjoys himself up there! He wasn’t as talkative as Lee or Bobby. And I do admit I love hearing live Word Vomit. So that was a tad disappointing, but there is a chance for more of that next time.

I also was very lucky to have the opportunity to chat a bit with Marcus, Jack and Sam Bradley each individually. I have mentioned before my friend’s private show at Lake Arrowhead, and with that just around the corner she had some business to discuss with them. So me being the supportive friend that I am, was there talking a bit as well. These boys are too funny when it comes to business! They are really just go with the flow kind of guys. I’m surprised they can get this whole tour together. Even the manager seemed a bit flaky. Maybe it’s the European thing, maybe it’s that they are young guys. Who knows? But they certainly are entertaining to talk to! Sam has a great memory and is so easy to carry on a conversation with. Jack seems pretty together but light-hearted as well. I didn’t talk much with Marcus as he was getting ready for his gig. But he was super sweet. After the show we spoke with another friend of theirs, Dustin. Or the greaseball as Rita called him! LOL. Now that guy, is one you want to have around when you party! But he seems like a good friend to them. All in all it was a great weekend with a nice little surprise on Saturday! And here’s a little snippet of what you missed at the Hotel Cafe. (I missed it too because I was busy listening to my rapidly beating heart and trying to look casual)

And I am super excited to announce that this Friday I will be seeing another mate of theirs, Johnny Flynn. I believe tickets are still available online at the Hotel Cafe. Also, the epic Lake Arrowhead show is this Sunday as well with Marcus, Sam and Lee. And there might be a ticket or two left! And then I will have seen all Britpack Boys live in concert!  But of course, still waiting on Rob’s! 😉

Wandering through…Award Shows!

Hey all! Not much news on the Robfront. I have seen some better reviews for Bel Ami, so that’s great news! And there was a couple alleged Rob sightings at pre-Oscar parties. Unfortunately, we did not get to experience this beautiful sight at the Oscars though.

But it did get me thinking, I remember all these wonderful pictures of Rob and I know he didn’t win an Oscar. So, he must have been presenting. But why don’t I recall it? Let’s see if we can see why.

Oh, now I remember it! An award show where Rob came prepared, read the teleprompter and said exactly what he was supposed to! It should be the perfect presentation but it’s just not that memorable. Let’s take a wander through some of Rob’s more memorable presentations.

It’s better, just not the classic Word Vomit we’ve grown to love from Rob. But I think Rob learned it was best to be himself. And the next time he presented an award to Reese he let it all out!

Unfortunately since it’s MTV we can’t get the full benefit here at RA but you can click here and see if it works for you. The awkwardness, the inappropriate jokes, it’s really a must see.

It doesn’t just end with presenting though. Rob has the ability to show his true colors accepting awards too.

Not sure what that means, but it’s Classic Rob! I love that he also sees the humor in this next award.

Rob knows when it’s time to get serious and when it’s time to show us some adorkable in these next clips.

Let’s hope soon we will see him with less surfboards and popcorn and more prestigious awards! I think we are in need of another OscarRob. And this time to be accepting the award!

Well now chickies, I’ve been spending a lot of time in art galleries lately, and yesterday I was in a conference with a local film director and one of his lead actors (who incidentally looked and sounded a bit like Hugh Grant)! Here’s hoping we up the stakes and get a conference with Rob some time soon! 😛

Tonguing It Tuesday: Holey Moley!

Holey Moley, it’s Tuesday!! With the Robdrought indeed over and all the wonderfulness that has been pouring down on us, I had a hard time focusing on the task at hand. A Rob bit that we hadn’t featured! So this week we are going to examine Rob’s beauty…marks, that is! You know; moles, freckles and what not. The thing I love about them is that they are unique to each person. We all may have them but each are different shapes, sizes and locations. So let’s take a look at some of Rob’s beauty marks!

I’ve been looking around for the newest mole porn we could get. So here it is!

Oh the Things You Can Say!

It’s Press Junket time!!! And one of my absolute favorite things about Rob is the Word Vomit he brings while being interviewed. What is Word Vomit, you might ask? Basically, it’s the spewing of words from a person with absolutely no filter. I’m sure we’ll all agree that Rob is the King of this, right? And although we have only had a few Rob interviews so far, he has given us so much to enjoy already.The first one that made me giggle was in Brussels, it was a brave fangirl’s birthday…

Are you 3 years old?  LMAO!! The poor girl couldn’t figure out the joke, she just asked Rob to kiss her. She was probably shaking in her boots! But she did get what she asked for…awwwww.

Now that was sweet, so let’s take it to the complete opposite end of the spectrum with Rob’s story about Edward’s thrusting and the Executive Producer’s “borrowing” Kristen. (check out the 1:06 mark)

The one where Rob calls all of us crazy and you should just give up trying to understand women. Thanks a lot Rob!

You’re a Great Pumpkin, Rob Pattinson!

It’s pumpkin carvin’ time!!! And there are so many wonderful stencils to choose from! But I’m sure you all know WHO I want to carve. But the problem is, I’ve done it before. No, I didn’t carve Rob but his famous character Edward. This year I want to have it look a little more like Rob himself. So of course I scoured the internet for inspiration and look what I found!

But first I should show you what I did a couple of years ago. I found a stencil that was JUST Edward and was a medium level of difficulty. I had never done a stencil before, I’m more of a simple face kind of girl! I then found the perfect sized pumpkin to fit his gorgeous head and set to work, the night before Halloween that is. Let me just say, it took waaaay longer than I thought it would. But, it  wasn’t as difficult as it looked. You just had to be very careful! So after slaving away for an hour or so it looked like this:

Not very impressive, is it?

Both of my parents were trying so hard to be supportive but even I was feeling a little let down. But I still had to see what it looked like all lit up. I put in a candle and hoped for the best!

Which brings us back to this year. I found one that looked a little more like Rob but it’s definitely New Moonward.

This one is good to help people recognize Edward. (some kid thought mine was Michael Jackson! WTHale?!)

And finally I saw this one! But it was done freehand and I don’t think I’m that good yet. 😦

So I’m settling for Eclipseward. He’s sexy and looks somewhat like Rob here. I mean, he’s not pasty white is he?!

But since we still have a way to go til Halloween, I can’t show you my finished product yet! But I will post it on the RA Facebook page as soon as I get it done. Wait! You didn’t know we had a Facebook page? Neither did I till a couple of weeks ago, but I do now!  As the RA gals have been telling us, fall is here and with that comes Halloween.
