Merry Christmas! This week for our FFF Guest Review Week to cover my absence (MC), we have a special Holiday Edition written by our lovely Cared. So please sit back and enjoy an incredible Christmas post packed full of excellent Holiday recs!
Since Santa heard you were all very good this year, he kindly lent me some Elves to help pick some Christmas Stories for your reading pleasure.
Take it away boys:
The term Murphy’s Law – “If it can go wrong, it will go wrong” could have been coined for this story. Poor Edward has something that is burning a hole in his pocket. Puhlease…I meant an engagement ring! After finding inspiration in a chick-flick, Edward spends three months meticulously planning a Christmas-time trip to New York for the sole purpose of proposing to Bella at the Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink. Sigh! The planning could only be described as perfect; the execution of those plans a disaster. I know I should not laugh at his misfortune, but I cannot stop myself. Edward is determined to reach his goal despite the numerous setbacks and will do and put up with anything to that end. It reminds me of the mother in Home Alone enduring hours in a van, with live polka music, only much worse! So ladies, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride.
Three hours, countless travel websites and a few Red Bulls later, I had booked us a flight to New York City and a suite at The Waldorf-Astoria. We’d leave first thing the day after Christmas.
I phoned the concierge at the hotel to begin planning the weekend. We’d arrive on Friday and I wanted to schedule a couple’s massage for that afternoon. I’ll be honest, the idea of listening to someone else making Bella moan wasn’t all that appealing, but Jasper swore the couple’s massage scored huge brownie points with Alice. I could have done without the description of what they did after said massage, but as I made the appointment, it was all I could think about.
After some alone time where we’d reap the benefits of our massage, I’d have a car ready to take us over to Rockefeller Center for dinner at The Rainbow Room. I know watching the ice skaters would only build up the anticipation and that was my intention. I really wanted to draw this out.
Edward should have been careful about what he wished for, he wanted to draw it out but just how drawn out it became was definitely not part of the plan.
I was going to propose. I was going to propose in New York on an ice skating rink in front of hundreds of people. Oh, it was going to happen alright…even if I died trying.
The best laid plans of mice and men go astray and yet poor Edward is still determined, as he told the nice policeman –
“Listen, I know this sounds ridiculous, but just about everything that could have gone wrong has in the last twenty-four hours. I should be in a hotel in New York City right now getting ready to propose to my girlfriend, but instead I have spent the last twenty-four hours on a plane, in a train and driving a minivan. I’m not drunk. I’m just losing my mind.”
Summary for Planes, Trains and Automobiles: “Edward Cullen has planned the perfect proposal for his girlfriend Bella on the Rink at Rockefeller Center. But getting there is easier said than done. By plane, train or automobile, can Edward get them to New York on time? For Twilight Gift Exchange.
Twilight – Rated: M – English – Romance/Humor – Chapters: 7 – Words: 18,367 – Reviews: 294 – Updated: 3-10-10 – Published: 3-5-10 – Edward & Bella – Complete”
The film A Wonderful Life is much-loved, especially at this time of the year.
Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! How could it be anything else?
Pour yourself a glass of eggnog or make yourself a cup of tea. Pull your armchair closer to the log fire, curl up your feet, take time-out from the world and enjoy this story where Edward and Bella discover what truly matters in life.
We meet Edward in a bar on Christmas Eve; this has become tradition ever since he broke up with Bella ten years earlier. That’s not an unusual scenario you might think, but our Edward is not celebrating the season of goodwill with friends, he is hiding from reality and drowning his sorrows, confiding his troubles in a beautiful mysterious woman by the name of Tanya. Later, he plays the Good Samaritan to a stranger in an alley and returns to the bar with him; A Wonderful Life plays on the television in the background, while they carry on a strange and life changing conversation.
“What would you change, Edward?” Michael asked, Edward squirmed slightly under his scrutiny. “If you could fix one mistake in your past, what would it be?”
Edward considered the question for a moment. He didn’t know why he felt compelled to answer such a personal question posed by a stranger. Perhaps it was the alcohol…or the emotional turmoil of the evening. Maybe he was just feeling sorry for himself. Whatever the reason, he found himself saying just one word.
Michael smiled and patted Edward on the shoulder. “I need to go,” he said abruptly, getting off his barstool. “Thanks again for your help tonight, Edward.” He reached into his pocket and placed a shiny metal ball on the bar in front of him. It took a moment for Edward to recognize it as a jingle bell. With a wary eye on Michael, he picked it up, the bell tinkling slightly.
“If you ever need me, just give that a jingle,” he said seriously. “It only works three times, so make sure it’s really important, okay?”
So begins Edward’s chance at a Do Over. This story is not about correcting mistakes, but learning from them. Will Edward learn and take his second chance or will he make the same mistakes again? Something definitely happened to Edward that night; whether it was a dream or a magical trip to an alternate reality…who knows for sure? There are more things in Heaven and Earth…..
Summary for Do Over: “Every Christmas Eve, Edward Cullen sits in a bar and regrets the decision he made ten years earlier that tore Bella from him. But when he gets a second chance to right that wrong, it’s not quite what he expected
Twilight – Rated: M – English – Romance – Chapters: 19 – Words: 66,662 – Reviews: 3016 – Updated: 12-18-11 – Published: 12-22-10 – Edward & Bella – Complete”
And, as if that wasn’t enough of a wonderful Christmas treat, a futuretake/epilogue has just posted called Visions Of Sugar Plums.
The authors says: WARNING: This story contains schmaltz, sappiness, and generous doses of schmoop. Read at your own risk. I say take the risk, you won’t regret it.

Now for an entirely different take on The Twelve Days Of Christmas, we have Twelve Days of Christmas by twilover76. This seasonal story is told from alternating Edward and Bella points of view. It started posting on December 14th /11 and posts a chapter a day, 12 chapters in total and will complete on December 25th itself. Edward helps out at a homeless shelter as an act of kindness; little does he realize that not only will that small gesture be paid back ten-fold, it also holds the possibility of changing his life. It’s perfect reading for this time of year.
Ladling up another heap of mashed potatoes, I looked across the table at the next person waiting in line.
Sweet baby Jesus.
My heart skipped a beat as I stared into a pair of gorgeous brown eyes. They were deep, dark, captivating, and pulled me in completely. We may have only locked eyes for a second, but I knew their image would forever be burned in my memory.
Summary for Twelve Days of Christmas : “Bella is running from her past and Edward is deciding his future. The holiday season brings them together. Can two people from different worlds be happy together? AH/M

There is so much I could say about Willow, a delightful story, originally a Christmas One Shot, but now complete at 4 chapters. All I will say however is the one thing that will guarantee your desire to read it – it is written by aftnoondlight (This is the collaboration account for jarkin33 & phoebes.promise.)
Suddenly blinded by a menacing orange beam, I continued moving forward shielding my eyes with the back of my poodle ravaged hand.
“Edward? Is that you?” She asked as I approached.
“Yeah, sorry. My truck got stuck a ways back.”
She turned off the spotlight when I reached her. Although I didn’t think it was possible; she was more naturally stunning than she was ten years ago.
“Wait, Edward… Edward Cullen, from Mr. Varner’s biology class? Oh my god, how are you?”
“Good,” I replied stifling my euphoria. She remembered.
Summary for Willow: “First place winner in A Christmas to Remember contest – A quaint small town. A horse named Willow. Two lonely lovers. These are the ingredients of a DIVINE holiday romance.
Twilight – Rated: M – English – Romance/Humor – Chapters: 4 – Words: 21,883 – Reviews: 215 – Updated: 12-11-11 – Published: 3-4-11 – Edward & Bella – Complete”
Note from MC: Willow holds a special place in my heart because this sweet story is where I discovered the two lovely, talented FanFiction authors, Jaime and Pheobe – aftnoondlight, who enthrall me, every time I read their works, with their creative and unique writing style. I followed Willow from the beginning; the first Winter chapter was posted last Christmas 2010. It is 4 wonderful chapters of romance and humour; each chapter being a new Season where we experience the love and relationship between Bella and Vetward! *swoon*
In A Christmas Restoration by A Cullen Wannabe, Bella is a New York Times bestselling author facing her first Christmas as a divorcee and without her children; what she does have is a very large chip on her shoulder and a case of writers block.
My tooth drew blood as I bit hard into my lip, my anger channeled into the delicate flesh. This was just another tick on the checklist of my shitty year. Cheating husband, check. Death of my father due to heart attack, check. Flighty Mother moving to Spain with her rich new husband in the midst of my turmoil, check. Messy divorce, check. Jackass ex moving off with his pregnant slut and abandoning my kids, check. Manipulated into driving them here because I absolutely refused to put them on a plane alone to fly all the way to Colorado, check. Pathetic human now stranded on the side of the road to become a human popsicle, leaving my kids to play second fiddle to the little bastard their father had with his ho, check.
What she needs is a strong, handsome, green-eyed man to come to her rescue, a muse if you will; right on cue enters stage right – Edward the National Park Ranger. Both Edward and Bella have suffered betrayal and have responsibilities to consider. Will they take that leap of faith for themselves and each other? Esme and Carlisle are the perfect grandparent figures. Esme delights in playing matchmaker and nudges Bella to give Edward a chance. “For the first time since you were hurt, the both of you are actually living instead of simply existing.” This is a heartwarming tale of love and family with a real feel-good factor even if Edward becomes a little sappy – “To quote a cheesy Tom Cruise movie, you complete me. I thought that line was so pathetic, but now I understand, Bella.”
Summary for A Christmas Restoration: “When single Mom, Bella, took her children to Colorado for their visitation with their father, she never dreamed she would find something unexpected in a winter storm. Can Edward heal Bella’s wounds and restore her faith in men, love, and herself?
