FanFiction Fridays – Happy New Year!

Wow, I can’t believe the last Friday of 2011 is upon us already! It’s been an amazing year of FanFiction Fridays here at Rob Attack. I have loved every minute of writing these posts each week, and it’s been an honour to have you all join me every Friday. I have made so many wonderful friends, have experienced countless cherished memories to hold dear and truly hope you will all continue to share FanFicition Fridays with me in 2012!

With that being said let’s get to our last FFF post of the year….

This week I have joining me the lovely and talented FanFiction author hisdenofsin with her Guest Review of  “Color of Loneliness” by ExquisiteEdward.

I am very honored to participate in Fanfiction Fridays recs so I’d like to thank MC for the opportunity!

I’ve recently heard that it was more and more difficult to find truly inspiring and epic stories to read. I agree. The time of MOTU, CWIA and Wide Awake is long gone. I also think that those stories, however wonderful they were, had a special impact on their readers because it was the beginning and we were avid to find new material.

Now is different because we all have read tons of stories and feel maybe a bit jaded about them. I know I feel that way sometimes, but a couple months ago I found a gem. It’s still a WIP, but the story is almost over. If you haven’t already, run and read “Color of Loneliness“ by ExquisiteEdward.

In this story, Bella has lost both her parents and her grandfather has just passed away. She’s also broken up with her boyfriend after he was unfaithful to her. She doesn’t know what to do with her life anymore and decides to escape her problems by going back to Forks, to live in her grandfather’s house. It needs a lot of work and of course, who’s a better contractor than Edward Cullen? He’s not a charmer though, quite rude but beautiful.

Bella hears the crunching of gravel made by tires coming up the driveway. A glance at the clock on the mantle reminds her that it is two o’clock, confirming her contractor appointment. The heavy front door screeches eerily as she pulls it open.

Staring at him, unmoving and her mouth slightly agape, she says nothing.

His brow furrows and his green eyes flash and narrow. “Yeah, you wanted an estimate for some work?” he asks gruffly, seeming irritated.

Bella is humiliated by her rudeness and her momentary loss of speech. “Oh, oh yes, please… come in,” she voices awkwardly, moving slightly so that he can pass. He towers over her as his tall, lean frame enters her living room.

Edward starts working for Bella and feelings develop. He’s a very secret man, with a very heavy past but desire flares between them.

She gives him an inquisitive stare. “Have you been drinking?”

“Why, yes. Yes, I have. I’ve been drinking… a lot. You wanna know a little secret?” he asks as he leans towards her, swaying. “I’m drunk. Like really, really drunk.” The smell of alcohol and cigarettes waft over her.

“Come in. You shouldn’t be driving drunk. You could go to jail or kill someone,” Bella scolds him harshly as she moves to let him in.

He stumbles into her living room and takes off his leather jacket, tossing it onto the loveseat. “Wanna know why I came here?” he asks as he flops on her couch, propping his large feet up on the coffee table. “Come ‘er and sit right here,” he says as he points to the cushion right next to him.

Bella cautiously sits by him on the couch, leaving some distance between them. She’s suddenly very nervous as to what he might say or do next.

He leans towards her. “I came here because…” he pauses, staring intently at her mouth, “… because I wanted to see your… lips. I’ve been thinking about them. Your lips, that is. They’re beautiful, and red, and… wet. And I wanted to visit them. I came to say hello to your lips.” His eyes glaze over with lust as he stares down at her mouth. “Hello, lips.”

Holy shit.

Even though he’s totally drunk off his ass and probably has no clue as to what he is saying right now, Bella finds his words to be completely erotic in a strange and startling way. It leaves her breathless.

“Okay….” Bella exhales shakily, not realizing she was holding her breath.

“I can’t quit thinking about them. I try… but I can’t. They look really soft. I bet they feel nice. Do they feel nice? I want to touch them,” he says in a low voice, his glassy eyes totally focused on her lips. He slowly sticks his tongue out and runs it over his lips, deliciously wetting them. “I want to taste them… or maybe nibble on them.” He leans closer to her, his mouth slightly open, his breathing heavy.

Their story really starts after this moment, made of passion, jealousy and secrets. Fortunately, there’s also a comic relief in the character of Susie, Bella’s best friend who’s hilarious.

“Holy shit! Did you get to suck face with him? Did you tongue the meanness?” Susie shouts excitedly.

“No, it wasn’t like that. It was horrible, Susie. He was a mess and he kept saying all these really… sexy things. But it was obvious he got in a fight with his girlfriend or something because he called me Katie before he passed out on my couch. He was saying those things to her not to me.”

Silence. Again.

“Let me get this straight. That yummy piece of sexified manliness passed out on your couch? So did you take a peek at his jackhammer?”

Bella’s face flushes bright red at the memory of her inappropriately feeling on his hair and Susie’s embarrassing question. “No!” she shouts back with indignation.

“If that had been me, I would have happily stripped him naked and took a ride on his Craftsman.”

Summary for Color of Loneliness:”Bella loses her last living relative and falls into a deep depression. She also has an ex-boyfriend whom she can’t get away from. Can a gruff contractor named Edward bring her out of the darkness? Rated M for lemons and language. OC.

I chose this story because it had me hooked right from the beginning and it’s still going strong. So give it a try, you won’t regret it! 🙂

This week I (MC) read the sweetest Holiday O/S called Cups Full of Wishes by Chloe Masen. It warmed my heart and made me cry; I just thought it was so lovely and definitely worth a rec. It is well-written and I know you will enjoy it, as we see how the love of one child, Lily, for her Mother, Bella, can bring out the best of the true spirit of Christmas.

Also, after contacting the author, who mentioned she may extend it, she said, “I honestly intended it to be a O/S, but by the time I finished, I knew it wouldn’t be. I can’t let go. I don’t know if I can turn it into a full story, but there will be at least 1 to 2 more updates…the few that have left their thoughts have all asked for more, and all I can say is that I’ll write it if Lily wants me to.” 🙂

Our last rec this week and my last rec of 2011, is a Holiday drabble fic entitled My Santa Savior by my dear friend JA Mash. It starts out as an adventurous Christmas story and drabbles into a lovely New Year’s Eve tale.

This fic is complete at 110 well-written, 100 word Drabble chapters – JA Mash presenting the true Drabble format here with this story, plus a full chapter Epilogue. My Santa Savior  is an enjoyable read, a story lined with Humor and Romance, but beginning with a lost and lonely Bella, down and out this Christmas:

Chapter 1:

Normally, I’m all about Christmas.

I buy my presents in October, and then spend all of November wrapping them.

When it’s time to put the decorations up, I’m as giddy as a five-year-old about to open presents.

I overdose on Christmas Carols.

By the time Christmas finally rolls around, I’ve already been drunk on eggnog at least three times.

This year, I still have shopping to do and there’s only two days left before Christmas.

The only decoration I have put up is a drawing of Santa made by my two-year-old niece that’s stuck to the door of the fridge. 

It’s actually an inspiring story of how a chance encounter during Christmas can truly change one’s desolate life. Bella takes her niece, Claire, to the Mall for her yearly visit to Santa, but what Bella doesn’t expect to find is her own Santa Savior and, as the story progresses into New Year’s Eve we see Bella’s outlook on her life improve dramatically, but first she must meet Santa…

Chapter 12:

Then the session is over and Santa waves for me to come and get Claire.

As I bend down and pick her up from Santa’s knee, Santa slips something in my hand.

I manage to glance at it as Claire glues herself to my hip again.

It’s a business card.

“In case you need a Santa for Christmas,” Santa says in a hushed whisper. “I’ve got references.”

I think that the only reference this particular Santa needs is the fact that he’s managed to look so damn sexy in a fat suit.

I just nod and smile a little shyly. 

Every time I read this chapter, I wonder exactly what kind of “references” Santa would provide for Bella. 😉 So, if you would like a great Holiday fic that is a pleasure to read, will make you smile and giggle, then please enjoy My Santa Savior.
