DOWN UNDER WITH ROB ~ Part 2 ~ The Authors of Oz

Fan Fiction FridaysAs you might remember, we here at FFF are celebrating our favorite actor’s time in the “land down under” by focusing on all things Australian. Last week we looked at Twific stories that are as HOT as the heat wave that swept over the continent, but this week we decided to take a different approach. We thought it might be fun to focus on some of our favorite fanfiction authors who permanently reside in the land of koalas and kangaroos. We were delighted to discover that many beloved stories were penned in the land that The Precious temporarily calls “home.”

I’ve come to the conclusion that one of the reasons I love a good Actorward is because it reflects so many of the elements I was sucked in by in the original Twilight. You know, that impossible situation of falling in love with someone you deem unattainable, someone who inhabits a completely different world to the one you live in, someone whose lifestyle is seemingly incompatible with your own. This scenario is common to both relationships: a human girl with a vampire, and an average girl with a world-famous actor. The obstacles – including the intrusion of others vying for their affections, and their own feelings of insecurity and self-doubt – seem insurmountable; but love is the ultimate leveler, as we find out in both Twilight and Episode.

I really like this story with its background of music flowing gently through it. AllyVera and I included it in the Best of Actorward Community, as it is just that – one of the best Actorwards in fanfiction. I pondered long and hard over how to review this fabulous fic as I wanted to do it justice. Eventually, I decided there was no better way than to let you see BoydBlog’s inspired words for yourself. I have chosen some of her awesome teaser banners to show you why you should read this terrific tale of a truly enchanting Bella and a sweet yet suave Edward and their personal episode of romance, UST, angst, love, and beautiful music.

Episode is currently a WIP at 43 chapters but as it’s only 7 chapters away from completion, it’s a great time to start reading. Have a look at this lovely teaser video to get you in the mood; allow the impressive timbre of Episode to wash over you.

The Loving Kind by thimbles

*made by frozensoldier*

*made by frozensoldier*

The Loving Kind ~ There were nine words on the square of paper. Nine simple words that I have waited over a year to hear: “I was wrong. I miss you. I love you.” My biggest mistake was falling in love with Bella. My second was telling her.

Twilight – Rated: M – English – Romance/Hurt/Comfort – Chapters: 27 – Words: 116,128 – Reviews: 1081 – Updated: 9-20-12 – Published: 4-1-12 – Edward & Bella – Complete

It turns out that there are many, many Aussie Authors that I love (do they put something in the water down there?), so selecting one story to review proved quite a challenge. In the end, I chose a tale that gave me something I was looking for this week. If you’ve had reason to seek out the good in the world these last few days because you’ve been mired in the blues, you couldn’t do better than to read the beautifully poignant The Loving Kind by thimbles.

This story explores the ordinary tragedies that underlie what it means to be human. thimbles touches the awfulness of grief, depression, divorce, abandonment – I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll stop there, though she doesn’t; but she writes it with such gentle compassion, such sweetness, such humour, that while you feel the characters’ pain deeply, you never lose sight of their joy in living, either.

This is how the story begins:

“I stare stupidly at the crumpled piece of paper in my hand.

For three days, I’ve been staring at it.

Trying to imagine how she would speak the words.

Tracing my fingertips over the strokes made by her pen.

Crumpling it up.

Tossing it in the trash.

Retrieving it.

Carefully smoothing out the creases.

There are three lines of an all too familiar scrawl spread across it. Her messy scribble is as familiar to me as my own neat hand. I can see her in my mind’s eye; the odd way she holds her pen, her thumb curling up over the top of her third finger; the silly spin she perfected after months and months of frustration and pens flying across our table; the tilt of her head as she watches the words emerge from the nib.

I wonder if she was smiling as she wrote these lines. Or was she crying? Sobbing, as I did when I first caught sight of them? Perhaps her face was set with the look of stubborn determination that she wore so well?

I wonder how many times she set her pen to paper before she finally slid it under my door. Did she spend hours, days, and weeks agonizing over it? Or did she simply determine what she needed to do, and carry it out with the ruthless efficiency with which she left me?

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “This is an angst fest, right? Tragedy, misery, pain and she leaves him??” Fear not. thimbles is an author who believes passionately in hope. She declares it on her author profile, and she threads it through her lovely words like silk in a tapestry.

The Loving Kind is a happy story. This is how chapter one ends:

“Sweetheart, don’t cry,” I beg.

“I’m here.”

“Bella, I’m here.”

“I’m s-s-so sorry, Edward. I was wrong. I … I was so t-terribly wrong, and I’m so very sorry.”

The words are out of my mouth before I even have a chance to think them through.

“I forgive you.”

Scratch the surface of anyone’s life, and the hardships they’ve endured will emerge. thimbles’ talent is in taking the ordinary pain and pleasure of truly believable characters, and turning it into a moving story everyone can relate to. Her Edward and Bella are so real, you could have met them at your local coffee shop. Her supporting cast could be friends of yours. Mmmm, and Garrett speaks with a glorious Australian accent, so even when he’s a jerk, you could eat him.

You know, if The Loving Kind was a film script, Rob would leap at it; I guarantee it. Go on – read it! You’ll feel better, and that’s a promise.

Yosemite Decimal by MagTwi78

Yosemite Decimal ~ Bella has nailed her dream job as Seattle Times’ newest Outdoors writer. She’s found new friends and is settling into life in her new city. Things are coming together for her, but an arrogant stranger sends her reeling at every turn. Will her new life be as comfortable as she’d hoped, or is she set for a rocky ride?

AH B&E M Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance/Humor – Bella & Edward – Chapters: 17 – Words: 93,555 – Reviews: 845 – Favs: 505 – Follows: 872 – Updated: 01-21-13 – Published: 09-17-12 – id: 8534317

Bella is a spirited, intelligent writer who loves to climb and when she moves to Seattle, finds a home away from home at her indoor local climbing wall. There she easily meets new friends but also quite literally stumbles over an arrogant guy who gets under her skin. Their initial meeting leaves them antagonistic towards each other after he sends her sprawling and earns his nickname – The Bulldozer, but it’s his arrogance that really winds Bella up.

Their second meeting had me chuckling again, he really knows how to push her buttons!

“I jump back as far as I can into the bar, spitting my lime wedge out into my hand in a rather unladylike fashion. “You!” I splutter. “You!”

Apparently I’m incapable of anything but single syllables around this man.

The Bulldozer smirks back at me. “Huh. I almost didn’t recognize you, when you’re not on your knees.” He goes back to sucking on the lime wedge, smirking crookedly.

“What?!” I shriek. “You…you…”

“You know, if you’re going to be panting at me, I’d prefer you used my real name,” he says cockily. Still smirking.

Damn, rude, bulldozing, Smirky McSmirkerston.

That’s it. Here’s me, reaching the end of my tether.

The Bulldozer places his lime wedge back on the counter, snickering. “No. Actually, it’s Edward. And you are?”

I glare back at him, rising to my full height in heels. Which still isn’t very high.

I’m a complete sucker for redemption and he’s definitely got his work cut out for him to be seen in a different light if he wants to  get into Bella’s good books, which of course, he does! She is forced to accept his help, more than once, but no matter how intriguing and attractive she finds him, his cocky attitude makes her determined to keep him at a distance. It’s got to be said, this Edward is so charming, it’s hard not to giggle at his behaviour – even when we admire Bella’s feistiness while she’s bringing him down a peg or two. They’re well matched and he soon learns to respect her, as well as her climbing skills…

“I’ve got two moves to go. I look for the next one and again, its way out of my reach. I’d need to be at full extension on both my right arm and leg to get it. I settle into the relatively comfortable position I’m in and re-chalk my hands, one at a time. I need to think.

I’m aware of two pairs of eyes still on me. Over my shoulder, I hear a low chuckle.

“You seem to be having a few problems there,” the cocky voice over my shoulder points out.

“No shit,” I mutter under my breath.

“You know,” starts Emmett, seemingly through a mouthful of chips. “If you just switch feet—”

“No helping.” The Bulldozer cuts him off. “If the route is so—what was it—mediocre, she doesn’t need any help, does she?” His voice is full of over-the-top confidence. We’re talking beyond cocky now. He’s bordering on impertinent.

That provides the incentive I need. There is no way I’m letting this fucker—the wall or the man—get the better of me.”

It soon becomes clear though, that something more is going on. Gradually MagTwi78 unveils snippets of Bella’s past – her reason for starting over and why she is, at times, defensive and wary. She’s very easy to like and relate to.

So, what’s Edward’s story? Ah, now that would be telling, you’ll have to read it yourself…and at 17 chapters in, I’m hooked! There are clues in his behaviour that all is not well, but he isn’t readily prepared to bare his soul.

What I can tell you is that it’s easy to get swept up in their world, a bunch of friends who climb and support each other.

I’ve even learnt some climbing phrases and techniques (that I’m never going to attempt!) and if you’re really curious, take a quick peek at MagTwi78’s Facebook group where she may have some pictures of naked climbers! Those muscles…strong shoulders…great imagery! Joking aside, I’m find I’m intrigued by their sport, and find the setting for the story interesting and refreshing.

It’s not all about the climb though, this is great storytelling with moments of sadness and reflection; each chapter infused with gentle humour. It’s a fun read and I’m always thrilled when an update arrives.

If you haven’t met The Bulldozer and Chalky yet, you’re missing out!

The American President by Rushed

The American President ~ As the President of the United States, Edward Cullen finds it difficult to meet women. So his brother secretly employs the services of an escort agency to help fulfill certain presidential needs. OOC AU

Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance/Angst – Edward & Bella – Chapters: 83 – Words: 120,462 – Reviews: 5,349 – Favs: 2,090 – Follows: 3,154 – Updated: 01-15-13 – Published: 06-13-12 – id: 8213149

I am going to do something a little different this week and start my review off with a taste of the story. Here we meet Bella and Alice – Alice is Bella’s Madam (for want of a better word) and she has just acquired a new “client” for Bella.

“You look like the cat that swallowed the canary.” I said as I sat down and crossed my legs, my right leg bouncing in anticipation of the assignment I was about to hear about.

“The cat yes, but he’s definitely not a canary. And it will not be me doing the swallowing sweetheart.”

“Touche.” I replied. No, Alice never did the swallowing. “Who is he?”

She hesitated before smiling again. Her eyes were sparkling. He must be very well known to be eliciting this type of response from Alice. She’d dealt with famous people before, nothing and no one ruffled her feathers. This one though, this one was clearly very different.

“Let me just start by saying that confidentiality is paramount.”

“Of course.” In Alice’s line of business that was a given. And I say ‘Alice’s line of business’ instead of ‘my line of business’ because this was only a side gig for me. ‘This’ being the highly lucrative, highly frowned upon business of an ‘escort’ agency.

“He can’t know that you do this for a living.”

“I don’t.”

“You know what I mean. He cannot know that you’re being paid.”

“Then who’s paying?”

“That’s none of your concern.”

“Plausible deniability?” I asked.

“Something like that.” He must be in a position of power then. One where morality, or the appearance there of was important. Politician perhaps?

“So I’m not being employed as eye candy then?”

“Definitely not working as eye candy on this one. There will be no public outings.”

That meant sex. While most of the jobs I did for Alice over the years had been to strictly escort men, I did occasionally take on jobs that required ‘more’, but only when the terms suited me.

“Right. Do I know this person?”

“Personally?” She clarified.

“No, no. I assume they’re a public figure of some description?”

Alice failed to contain the grin. “Yes, definitely a public figure. Very public. Yes, you are familiar with them.”

“Married?” I despised the married ones.

“Not anymore.” Good.

“Democrat or republican?”

“Does it matter?” Honestly?

“As long as he’s not hideous, or ancient then no. Unless there’ll be time for a lot of talk.”

“I wouldn’t expect much talking. Just fucking.” She was blunt.

“Just tell me who it is already.”

“I need to know if you’re available first.”

“Sunday night.”

“Sure, why not?”

She hesitated then took a deep breath looking me straight in the eye. “Edwardcullen,” she said so quickly I barely heard her.

“Excuse me?” I said, uncrossing my legs and scooting my ass to the front of my chair, close to falling off, completely unsure of whether I heard her correctly.

“EdwardCullen,” she said again, very slowly and deliberately this time. Before looking disgustingly smug.

Holy mother of.

“President Edward Cullen?”

She simply nodded.

I blinked several times as my heart began hammering in my chest. Edward Cullen. President Edward Cullen. President of the motherfucking United States of America, Edward Cullen. Leader of the free world, Edward Cullen. Arguably the most powerful man in the world.

Well, fuck me.

Rushed has certainly created a story with a unique premise; I can’t help but be in awe of her for dealing with this subject matter so incredibly well.  The fact that Rushed is Australian only serves to deepen my admiration.

I will confess that I rarely read stories where Bella is a prostitute, mainly because it’s been hard to like her as a character, but in The American President, it is Bella’s character that sold the story to me. I greatly admire her in this fic. She loves fiercely, is independent, resourceful, confident and very loyal.

Edward, of course, is in his own league – not only is he the most powerful man in the Western World, but he is charming, genuine, sexy and so sweet.  Oh, and he has great hands – just ask Bella (chapter three).

These two embark on a liaison that at first originates out of necessity on both their parts, but quickly turns into something much deeper.  So much deeper, in fact, that Bella ends up making the ultimate sacrifice for the man she loves. However, when it comes to the crunch, I expect Edward will make sacrifices for the loves of his life as well.

It isn’t a smooth road for these two, but we are at the point in this WIP story where we can see the ending they both truly deserve.

  1. Happy Friday Bower of Bliss! I have read or am reading quite a few of these authors, including your very enjoyable ‘Drowning, not waving’ that MC rec’d previously on FanFiction Fridays. A few of those authors are new to me, thanks for sharing the list.

30 year old Bella Swan is the swimming instructor who teaches the Sunday morning daddy and baby classes. Although he’s a forbidden man, her attraction to Edward Cullen, the newest daddy to join the Waterbabes group, is instantaneous. Can Bella drown her libido and maintain her professionalism? B x E x H2O equals slippery when wet. All Human. Romance. Humor. Minimal angst.

  2. Everything that AlbyMangroves wrote for the TwiFandom was incredible. Her O/S’s ‘In Braille’, ‘Treefingers’, and ‘Anomaly’ are all fan-freaking-tastic, as well as The Dark Muse and her unfinished multi-chap “Ballad of the Spinster & the Outlaw’

    • Hello Wink – Miss Winkles I presume? it’s nice to see you here. I couldn’t agree more about Alby Mangroves. I particularly like her ‘Anomaly’, it is just as you say – fan-freaking-tastic!

      Happy FanFiction Friday!

    • Thanks Wink! Hmmmm I’m a fan of your work too. It’s lovely meeting authors who I’m reading and seeing what they like to read.

Adding this to my TBR list now.

  3. +1 for checking out MissWinkles’ stuff…her easy and honest style make reading her words a joy. Salty (Follow The Sun) is a MUST to check out to get a true insight into Aussie life.

  4. Hey MagTwi! After read Wiltshire Glo’s rec of Yosemite Decimal, I can’t wait to read it. I’m really enjoying your Mate of Honor – Edward has his work cut out for him, especially with helpful friends like his LOL.
Best friends Bella and Edward have a deal—if they’re not married by the time they’re 30, they’ll marry each other. While she’s been searching for Mr. Right, he’s been busy with Miss. Right Now. Would you be happy seeing your long-time love say ‘I do’ to someone else? B & E, M

Thanks for the rec of Follow the Sun by MissWinkles – it sounds like fun.
Sometimes you have to stop thinking with your head and listen to your heart, follow which way the wind blows and dream with abandon. Because tomorrow is a brand new day, and who knows what it will bring. E/B. Fluffy as fuck, with some sweet salty love.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. mauigirl60

Great recs and wonderful reviews. So happy to see Wiltshire Glo and her review of Yosemite Decimal. I have had all the WIPs on alert for some time and eagerly awaiting for them to finish. My only concern is with Episode…does anybody know how much longer for it to complete, as it seems to be taking a long time to finish.

I also didn’t realize thimbles was an Oz girl, I downloaded three of her stories into my tablet and will be reading them soon; this is one of them.

    Great recs today, ladies!!!!

    • Thanks mauigirl60! BoydBlog plans to complete Episode at 50 chapters and 43 have posted to date. I’ll let you know when it completes.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

    • *waves at mauigirl60!* nice to see you bb! Yep, these Aussie girls know how to tell a great story. You’re in for a treat when they complete. I’m too impatient and can’t resist them as WiPs! 😉

Thank you all for the recs in your comments!!!!

    • Hello kleomary! The Loving Kind is complete. There are about 7 chapters to go with Episode, and I’m reading The American President too (and love it) so I know that it’s near completion.

You’d be surprised at how many Australian authors you do know kleomary, I know I was. I love both KiyaRaven and FoxxyJ btw.

The fic recs in the comments are great – you are right about that.

Thanks and have a wonderful weekend. Happy reading!

Wow. Thank you so much for your kind words about “The Loving Kind.”

Aussie recs, I’d have to echo the mentions of MissWinkles’ “Follow the Sun,” and Alby Mangroves’ “The Dark Muse.”

Of course, one can’t not mention “The Blessing and The Curse,” which is such a stunning piece of writing.

Thanks again for your lovely review!

    • Hi Shell, it’s great to see you here again! You know I’m a huge fan of your writing.

I love how supportive you all are of your fellow Australian authors – it’s lovely to see. Gingerandgreen is right, there must be something in the water. LOL

Thanks for the rec of The Blessing and The Curse by The Black Arrow.

Good morning, good afternoon, and good evening to you all.

WOW. I had no idea there were so many authors from down under. thanks for the list, Bowers of Bliss.

Thanks to you ladies for another great post.

Cared, I love the Authors of Oz banner. I’m a pervy heifer because I noticed that the tin man is not only weak in the knees, but a little excited, too (IYKWIM) yep, his nozzle is showing. LMAO!!

He’s a lefty just like Rob.

OKAY-enough. Sorry for bringing it down a few notches. I just couldn’t resist.

Thanks for all you do, my fellow FicSix.

  11. Oh my, with all the recs here today you may never get another review out of me again, because I’m going to be all ‘Speak to the hand! Got stuff to read here’!! Seriously, do they put something in the water down there? Thanks so much for sharing what you love, everyone xxx

  12. Awesome recs for our Aussie authors! I’m really enjoying Yosemite Decimal and The American President. I haven’t read the Loving Kind, but I was completely engrossed in Figmetum by Thimbles (it has a nontraditional HEA that I had to think on for a bit before I was satisfied – but GAH – amazing writing!) and now I want to read everything she’s written! I LOVED Episode when I read it a while ago, but it was on hiatus for a bit – is it back to updating?

And TB&TC, that’s classic fic. Loved it.

My awesomesauce beta SydneyGen/Sydneytwilightmum is Aussie too!

    • Hi Missus T! I definitely agree, I only picked up Figmentum when it was rec’d on FFF – such beautiful writing and very different. I was glad she stayed true to her story and gave it a very fitting but unusual HEA.
Figmentum: 1. figment, fiction, invention, unreality; 2. thing formed, devised; 3. image. She coaxes him into existence with every word she writes. What will Bella do when she finds herself falling in love with the main character in her latest novel?
Twilight, M, English, Romance & Angst, chapters: 18 Complete.

I’m also loving Accidentally in Love! You can’t believe how happy I am to see so many of the authors I love here and commenting 😉 I’m such a fan girl!

    • Hi Missus T! It’s good to have you visit again. Accidentally In Love is a fabulous fic and I’m really enjoying it.

Episode is updating regularly now and is on the home stretch.

Thanks for the rec of SydneyGen.

      Happy Friday!

    • I forgot to say Missus T – I love your profile picture!

  13. Seems we are in kahoots yet again!! I just recd. a great story from Landdownunder on our Friday post at Bookish Temptations. Check it out here:

The Blessing and the Curse from The Black Arrow is def. one of my Top Ten favorite fan fics, because it’s AMAZING… Love it!

    • Sounds great Katiebird, I’ll definitely check it out! You know what they say…great minds! Or maybe we’re all just inspired by a higher force, namely Rob!

I think the Blessing and the Curse is still hard to beat and has to be a top ten contender for lots of us.

    • Thanks katiebirdie – we all know who has been on our minds LOL. It’s lovely to see you here!

Check out katiebirdie’s link for her rec on Eighteen and others.

      Have a great weekend!

    • Ooooh I haven’t heard of Eighteen by Landdownunder, but I love her fic Off Piste! (Skiward *nods* UNF ) I reread it this summer during the Olympics and was reminded how good it is!
Off Piste – Edward is a professional skier, Bella is an ex-Olympian still involved in the industry. They haven’t seen each other since one memorable encounter a few years ago; now the Vancouver Winter Olympics will have them sharing the same slopes once again. AH

    • rita01tx

Hey, Katiebirdie darlin’! I see you’ve discovered Landdownunder too! I’m currently hooked on her WIP…

      Heart-Shaped Box
Bella Swan has a tight bond with her sisters, a generous and loving father, and the beginnings of a great career. Grief and forced self discovery weren’t supposed to be part of the package. A raw exploration of letting in love amongst loss. AH. Canon couples.

“Raw exploration of letting in love amongst loss” nails the essence of this fic and raw is how it will leave you in the first chapters, until Bella begins to let love in again! This is some damn powerful writing, I tell you!

  14. By the way… HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY! To all our Australian authors and readers xxx

  15. Best Wishes to all from and living in Australia today.

    Happy Australia Day!

Love this. There’s a couple on here that I’m already reading but a few brand new ones. I know what a chore it is to read all of those fics. NOT! LOL! But I appreciate you guys doing it and giving us even more choices for our reading pleasure!

  17. Sus

I absolutely love “The American President.” It’s been a little slow in updating, but it’s really a good story. This is a good time to start reading it, as it’s at a very telling part of the story. enjoy!

Thanks so much for putting up all these recs! Keeps me going with my FF reading!

    • Hi Sus, I absolutely love ‘The American President’ too. It seems to be back on track now and it is indeed at a very telling part.

You are welcome Sus, we love to read and rec.

      Have a great weekend!

  18. Hello and Happy Australia Day to all.

How fitting that I came across this site today of all days and to see so many Aussie Authors being rec’d. Some are old favourites of mine and a few I’m only reading about for the first time today. I’ve added those on to my alert list.

FoxxyJ, mpg, BoydBlog, Alby Mangroves, Anna Faze, KiyaRaven, Edwardsisobel are just a few that lookout for religiously with karry4harry & xxxKittyMasenxxx both new but worthy of mention.

Now to sit back and relax on this very wet QLD (Gold Coast) Australia Day and catch up on some of the New Aussie authors I’ve now found and some of my old favourites just like Evolve by BoydBlog that I had just finished reading before I hit Twitter and found this site.

Looking forward to coming back and reading more of the Rec’s you send out way 🙂

    • Hello emmzacl, welcome to FanFiction Fridays! I’m glad you found some new authors here today. Thank you for your list as I found two new to me from there.

Do come back next week as we will have Part 3 of Down Under With Rob. I’ll leave you to be surprised at how we tie in our fics next week. Check out last week’s post of HOT fics too and you can sign up for alerts if you like.

Enjoy staying dry indoors and reading fic this weekend!

  19. Ok imma try to comment now. spent days trying to fix my laptop and internet. it seems i can now be on line for more time than it takes to load a page and write a comment at least! so that is a plus!! Sorry I haven’t been able to get back to you until now Cared!! Both last weeks and this weeks posts were/are Great! So glad to see so many great recs from Down under mentioned here! They sound wonderful! I’ll mail you soon Cared! Promise! Did you get my last email i sent to the RA admins?

  20. Hey Ladies!!!

Happy Australia Day to all our Aussie readers and authors! Like emmzacl, I am at the Gold Coast and it is pouring with rain! Emmzacl, it is so nice to know I am in the same town as a fellow fan fic reader and lover.

Cared, I have to say a BIG thanks to you when I left you holding the bundle with this weeks post.. You have done a beautiful job, as always!

I am so proud to say we have some incredibly talented Aussie authors… And I can’t believe I didn’t know that The Black Arrow was Australian *facepalm*

I am hoping to fit some reading in today.. It is the weather for it! Have a great week all!! AV xox

  21. Hey AV,
I’m glad i’m no the only one who didn’t know the very talented Black Arrow was an Aussie. I did a major facepalm when I saw that too. How did I not know that? I love The Blessing and The Curse!!

And I’m excited that you are practically my neighbour too! Emmzacl and I and a bunch of other FFn addicts get together for coffee and FFn discussion regularly. If you ever want to join us, just DM me and we’ll make it happen.

The post is fantastic. I was a little behind on The American President but i just got caught up again. Oh, that Edward is hot stuff. It’s not often that you read an older Edward that makes you melt like he does. So good.

    Well, Happy Australia Day everyone!

    • Hey FoxxyJ… Oh, I am so glad I am not the only one that didn’t know about The Black Arrow! I am only up at the Gold Coast for a week, unfortunately, but I do come up here often – but I would love to catch up :). Always nice to chat to fic-sisters! Chat soon AV xo

  22. Hey AV,
Well, next time you are up this way, do DM me and I will organise for a few of use to have coffee at Robina shopping centre. It would be a laugh.
Enjoy your holiday, although I can’t see you hitting the beach in this weather.

  23. ilovealion

Just wanted to say Happy Australia Day to you all!!!

  24. Cared, thank you for the ‘review’ of Episode. I am motivated to get this next chapter finished to post. I love how supportive my fellow Aussie writers are… my WC gals (that I miss terribly) have been such an inspiration to me…

I MUST rec a particular story, that is one of the saddest I’ve read (be prepared for some heart fail) from Aussie writer MPG. OK, I am biased, I occasionally beta for her, so just thought I’d put that out there, but please, if you want an emotionally draining story, that will make you cry then please mark this one on your to-be-read lists:

    Letters to You by mpg

Wow, I have so many wonderful new writers to discover and catch up on… while I swoon over Rob cycling pics :))))

    Luv BBxx

    • *Waves to BoydBlog* You are very welcome – you know I enjoy Episode very much. I’m looking forward to the update.

Thanks for the rec of Letter to You. Some of the ladies here love to have their heart ripped out by a fic LOL.

I’m glad you’ve found some new writers as that is always exciting. I know I love to.

      Watch out for handsome cyclists!

    • Hi BoydBlog, thanks so much for dropping by and for the rec, you will have to drop by next week for more Aussie goodness! I have been reading one of mpg’s stories this week in readiness!!! Take care AV xo

  25. I just have to add this story. It’s the funniest FF I’ve read because we all know how bad fanfiction can get. It’s by jesicka309.
Vague Summary. Eyebrow Raise. Mild Interest. Spelling Mistake. Flounce. A crackfic about Twilight fandom clichés. Will my Mary-Sue be perfect, get Edward, and have fantastic sex? Of course!

  26. Thanks for the rec Bower of Bliss. I like a good crack fic. The first one I read was Instant HEA by 107 Year Old Virgin – what fun!

  27. Aren’t we lucky to have so many gifted Aussie authors sharing their stories with us? I haven’t seen a mention yet of my favorite:

I would recommend absolutely anything by Windchymes – I have read The Decision, Distractions, and Blood Lines and floved them all. This author dives into canon Edward and with tiny little “what if” twists, brings up gems of insight that develop his character and his relationship with Bella in delicious, emotionally satisfying ways. In “The Decision”, for example, when Edward fled Forks after that first biology class he didn’t come back, but he encounters Bella a few years later. “Distractions” is one of my favorite New Moon alternatives. I’m sort of saving “The Keepsake” for a rainy fic day – I know I will love it. And if you enjoy Daddyward, in “Blood Lines” you’ll get such beautiful, juicy moments (that IMO SM totally gypped us out of) that I think of this story as as Daddyward porn – VAMPIRE Daddyward, yet! Sigh.

Thanks for all the recs, ladies, and if you haven’t read anything by Windchymes, check her out!

    • Hello Renee Legris – welcome to FanFiction Fridays!

Thanks for the rec of windchymes, she is one of my favourite authors. I love all of her stories passionately. I rec’d The Keepsake here last year. If you want to read it, look up at the top in the Library, under Posts.

I have been very impressed by the amazing talent of the Aussie authors, but even more so by the great support shown to one another.

Please drop by again next week for the final week of fics with Australian connection – Down Under With Rob Part 3.

Good day to all our Aussie sisters! Love all of your works. I’ve been so busy clicking and adding and following and faving that I almost forgot to say “thanks” for all the great recs. As always, you ladies do an amazing job. 🙂

  29. You are most welcome eewee333. We had great fun putting this post together and we have loved the Aussie author response.

Come back in the morning for our final Down Under With Rob post.

    See you then eewee333!

I came across this very intense story by Romanian author VioAlexandru…it is not BDSM but there is certainly a theme of dominance and submission….this is VioAlexandru’s first and only story (hopefully we can get her to write more) and not written in her native language but in English (and very well done)….if you like her story please send her some love as this is a very under reviewed story….it is an intriguing story of romance and mystery between a husband and wife……Well, they’re married. So why isn’t it everything wonderful? All human, OOC, mature themes.

Thank you all authors for all the wonderful stories you have shared with us for our reading pleasure (and of course to appease our addictions for Edward, Bella, and the gang)!
