Follow the Sun ~ Sometimes you have to stop thinking with your head and listen to your heart, follow which way the wind blows and dream with abandon. Because tomorrow is a brand new day, and who knows what it will bring. E/B. Fluffy as fuck, with some sweet salty love.
Twilight, M, English, Romance & Humor, chapters: 28 Bella & Edward
Do you ever feel you’re stuck in a bit of a rut, facing a future that’s quite predictable, comfortable but not really what you want? Have you ever daydreamed of taking off, feeling the sand between your toes and just living for the moment? Yeah? Me too!
So, when I started reading MissWinkles’ Follow the Sun, I could relate to Bella when she decided to take a risk and move from the comfort of her parents’ farm and walk away from Jake, ending his expectations that they would just drift into marriage. I was cheering her on as she drove away to experience a different side of life, despite her fears.
“From the veranda I can hear the waves lap lazily against the shore, whooshing and frothing as they roll up the sand and back again. I’m so used to the sound of crickets and cicadas, the sounds of the bush. But this is definitely just as nice, soothing even.
Sitting with my feet out in front of me, I watch as the last of the sun’s light slips over the horizon. The easy part is over; I made it, I’m here. Tomorrow, the hard stuff starts.
Starting a new life is scary as shit; new job, new friends, new house – but I think I’m ready.”
Reading Follow the Sun dropped me right into the blazing-sunshine world of Australian surfer boys, the friendships and easy lifestyle. I want to rave to you about the imagery, wax lyrical about how real the characters are, how I want to move to Australia and live on the beach, with the sunshine, a carefree attitude, a beer in my hand….and I don’t even like beer!
If you want to know exactly what sort of people Rob is rubbing shoulders with Down Under, read this fic as I suspect MissWinkles gives a true flavour of the people and their country. Right throughout I can only hear Aussie accents, I can only see the warm colours of the Australian coast and smile at the attitude of her countrymen. Follow the Sun may be set in an idyllic seaside town, but the characters are large as life, including Bella, as the patrons find out on her first shift behind the bar.
“”Don’t stress,” yells Rose. “There’s always some dickhead trying to pull that shit. Next time let Paul or Jasper serve his broke ass,” she says, leaning on the bar tap, waiting for some guy to order a drink.
“Come on,” she barks at him. “This isn’t a peep show, mate. Order a drink or fuck off.”
I stifle a laugh as the pageant queen in front of me finally decides what she wants to drink.
“I’ll have a Cosmopolitan,” she says, her sparkly crown sitting lopsided on her head. With a bright pink sash over her chest, I’m guessing she’s part of the hen’s party.
“A what? A cosmopolitan?”
Jasper laughs beside me, filling a jug of beer, muscled and inked arms flexing as he pulls the tap towards him.
“Unless it’s bottled, we don’t sell that fruity shit.”
I grin sweetly at the woman at the bar. “Sweetheart, we’ve got beer, we’ve got cider, we’ve got pre-mixes, or – oh! – we’ve got beer. On no, wait, we have water.”
She huffs, and rolling her eyes points to the beer fridge behind me. “A red Breezer then. And a water.”
I plonk the red drink down in front of her, and scoop up a glass of ice and put it down next to it.
“That’s not water,” she says, looking at the glass of ice. No please, no thank you, just a sour look on her face as she taps her hideously long nails on the countertop.
“Well give it a minute or two and it will be!” I snap, slamming her change onto the bar with more force than necessary.
Jasper and Rose both laugh loudly. “You gotta hire this chick, Ben!” yells Rose over her shoulder. “She’s a fucking crack up.””
So, “where’s Edward?” I hear you cry! He’s there in her new town of Clearwater, a guy who lives to surf, goof around with his mates and have a few beers…and just maybe entice Bella into something more. *sigh* I’ve got to say, he’s very cute!
If, like me, you’re stuck in the midst of cold, stormy weather, go ahead and lose yourself in the Australian summer and learn to surf with Edward and the guys. At 28 chapters in, you’re not too late to join in the action, but if you’re waiting for it to complete, you’re lucky that it’s on the home straight.

Chasing Victory ~ Edward is a foul-mouthed, screw-up V8 race-car driver whose career has started to race down the toilet. Bella Swan was left behind when he left to chase his dreams. Both are trying to piece together their lives. E&B/AH/AU/OOC/Lemons/Language
Rated: Fiction M – English – Hurt/Comfort/Romance – Edward & Bella – Chapters: 47 – Words: 179,076 – Reviews: 2,364 – Favs: 1,065 – Follows: 569 – Updated: 08-02-10 – Published: 01-22-10 – Status: Complete – id: 5687435
Chasing Victory covers many of my passions in life… Edward, V8 Supercars, Edward, Australia, Edward… well, you get the idea. Mpg (which stands for Missile_Proof_Glass, by the way – how fantastic is that penname?) has woven a story full of twists, turns and excitement and that doesn’t pertain to Edward’s racetracks!
For those of you who don’t know, V8 Supercar Racing tends to run in the blood of families here Down Under – my whole family are fans and so are my DH’s family – so really we have no choice. I guess it is similar to Nascar in the US – for some, it is sacred.
Straight off, I will tell you this high octane Edward is hard work. He is a hard drinking, fast driving, foul-mouthed manwhore. At the end of chapter one he is within a hair’s breadth of losing his place on the Cullen Racing team, and when he crashes out of “The Great Race” at Bathurst, he is not a popular boy at Cullen Racing!
A snippet from chapter one..
“She was waiting, looking expectantly around the crowd. For half a second I arrogantly thought she was looking for me, even though I was the reason we were no longer together. At least I had thought that, until I saw him. Then I knew she had no further interest in me. He walked towards her from the concession stand with two hot dogs in his hands and two cans of coke balanced in the crook of his arm. Her face broke into a wide smile when she saw him. His russet-coloured face returned the grin before he planted a kiss on her lips and handed off her half of the food. She had willingly come to watch a race with someone and seemed to be enjoying herself. It must have been love – she’d never come to any of my races. When I saw that I realised I should have been happy for her. I really should. After all, I’d walked out of her life. So why did I feel like ripping that fucker limb from limb?
And that was Queensland Raceway.
And that occurred immediately before I climbed in the car.
And that was the first race, ever, that ended in a DNF* for me.
And that was why the former love of my life was now the bane of my existence. Because it was her that haunted me around the race track, leeching my concentration away for vital seconds at a time.”
If we had a rating for FanFic Edwards who act like arseholes, CV Edward comes in at a solid 9 out of 10. He does and says some almost unforgivable things, but through his arsehattedness (yes, I just made up a word) you see more and more flashes of the man behind it all – loyal, dedicated, fun-loving, hard-working and capable of the deepest of loves.
Bella appears in chapter three and their reunion is unexpected for both of them, and Edward doesn’t really handle it as well as he should, just sayin’. (Twilight’s Edward after their first Biology class springs to mind).
You just get the feeling as you are reading that there is more to their breakup and history than meets the eye, and there is a real element of mystery around Bella and what she has been up to since Edward’s spectacular exit from her life. You do eventually get all the answers and I won’t give any of the plot away, but I will say this – CV Bella is one tough girl – she has been through hell and back.
On a side note, I found the way that mpg tells Lizzie’s (Edward’s Mum) story very heartfelt. Lizzie is very typical of some Australian women, incredibly proud, resilient, but fragile at the same time. I was cheering for her as much as the main characters – Lizzie deserves a HEA as much as her son.
Even if you don’t like Racing Drivers or motorsport, it won’t matter, because this story is so much more than Edward’s profession – when it comes to the crux, it is really about a man who has lost who he really is, but by finding his Bella again he regains himself so he can carry on Chasing Victory.
Note: There is also a sequel to Chasing Victory as well, titled Claiming Victory, which I have thoroughly ensconced myself in at the moment. Also, as Chasing Victory is all EPOV – mpg also has outtakes in other POV of Chasing Victory here and Claiming Victory here.

I bring you a quick look at three stories that are set in Australia, and one set in Hollywood featuring a Bella from Australia. The word Australia is the only thing my description of these stories has in common. These tales widely vary in style and stretch from one that will make you cry with empathy, to one that will make you cry with laughter.
Going Under ~ Can one day make a difference when you’re going under? O/S for the Another Ward on the Barbie contest Judges Choice – cripes! . E/B

Now, I understand this is fiction; these people are not real. But the tale is so gently powerful that many hours after reading this, I was still thinking about the characters and their possible futures. It is one of those fics where you have to balance your need to reach the end quickly, in this case to understand what has happened in the past, with your desire to savour each word as it appears.
I wake at dawn to a chorus of birds from the bush above our house and the rhythmic beat of waves from the ocean below; the soundtrack I have woken to all the days of my life. It had always been a song that never failed to excite me with its promise of endless days that glistened like the sun on the ocean, stretching in a limitless dance all the way to the curve of the horizon.
I will tell you the descriptive imagery of this bittersweet award-winning story is exquisite and the characters are memorable; I am not going to tell you anything about the plot however. Read these 9,968 words and enjoy every single one of them.
Boofhead ~ I’ll never forgive my mum. I feel like I wanna jump off the Harbour Bridge. I’ll have to move to Kalgoorlie where there’s no TV reception! I want to be Joy Smithers, and live a life of obscurity as a faceless voice-over for Impulse commercials.

All I can say about Renee is with a mother like her, who needs enemies? Bella is a quiet bookshop assistant with a fear of public speaking, and Renee signed her up to be a contestant on the television game show ‘Perfect Match’ to get her out of her shell. Fair-dinkum to Bella as she goes through with the show, albeit she is determined not to be the winner who will accompany the owner of the voice from behind the screen on a holiday, and so answers accordingly. The plan backfires of course, and she is picked.
There are no prizes for guessing that Wardie is that lucky bloke that gets his pick of the sheilas.
“How are ya, Edward?”
“Call me Wardie, Greg. I’m feeling ace, thanks,” he said.
His voice was commonly ocker, but had a masculine huskiness that kind of made my head feel light.
“Now, you want to be a famous muso, Wardie?” Greg asked the man behind the screen.
“Yeah mate. Yeah I play guitar. I wanna join a band and become rich and famous!”
“Get into it and make some money, yeah? And what are you looking for in your perfect lady?”
“Um, you know, good personality and looks good in a bikini,” he said, which I hoped was in sarcasm, but assumed he was being one hundred percent truthful.
He laughed, my stomach dropped.
“Alright Wardie, take a seat. You know the rules. Please ask the first contestant your question.”
“Contestant number one. What’s your idea of a ripper night out?”
He had me at “Call me Wardie” LOL. This Edward is one of a kind but very sweet in his own way – a real bewdy!
BoydBlog says in an A/N “If you were not an Australian teenager or older during the 1980s then some language and references this one-shot will not make sense. It will be like I’m speaking in a foreign language.” While I’m definitely old enough, I am from a different hemisphere, but I still got the gist of the slang and found this fic to be hilarious or maybe I should say a rip snorter. Please form an orderly queue and join Wardie and Bella on Flight 1918 to Hamilton Island.
On Screen Chemistry ~ Edward Cullen, agent to the stars, is a workaholic who is mean and intimidating. That is until he meets struggling actress, Aussie Bella Swan. AH A one-shot written for the Fandom against Juvenile Diabetes compilation.
Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance – Edward & Bella – Words: 7,569
This story is set against the usual background of the cut throat world and madness that is Hollywood, but it has the unusual premise of Bella being the thespian.
When we meet Bella she is the kind of actress that is a waitress and shop assistant for a living. When we meet Edward, while he is quite masterful and hot, he needs help to pull his head of out of his arse. Funnily enough, this gorgeously determined yet sweet Bella is the perfect woman for this role.
“Is there something I can help you with, Mr Cullen?” She says with a forced but equally as polite as before smile. Her accent is far less distinct than it was earlier in the night confusing Edward in his drunken haze. Her innocent question sends all sorts of dirty thoughts swimming through Edward’s brain and that in turn sends the blood rushing straight to his groin.
“How about you give me your number?” he asks her cockily. It’s unusual for him to have to ask for a number, but he’s not above it. He hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her all night.
Bella snorts in a very unladylike way then turns and walks away.
Exasperated, Edward is frozen on the spot for a few seconds before he realizes what has just happened. He rushes to catch up with her at the bar. Surely she is interested in him, most women are.
Best of all, it is actress Bella that helps agent Edward to discover himself, without losing herself in the process.
Edward Cullen Finally Learns To Bowl A Maiden Over ~ Has Cocky Cullen, England cricket captain and man-about-town, finally met his match? AH, canon couples, rated M for language, lemons and Emmett

Edward Cullen is a player. He is the captain of the English cricket team and a player when it comes to the ladies; a Centurian both on and off the field. The English team travels to Australia to play for The Ashes.
Bella Swan also travels from England for the event, but she doesn’t know a stump from an inning; her job is to interview the WAGs for a magazine. She strikes up a conversation over Pulp Fiction quotes with a handsome stranger in an American-style diner, and the game begins.
“I know the rules, I can teach you if you like.” Mentally Edward kicked himself, thinking he sounded like an idiot. But Bella didn’t think that; she was touched that someone who she hardly knew would put themselves out for her like that.
They fell into easy conversation as their food arrived and the diner emptied as the patrons headed out to go home, to church or to nightclub their way into Christmas Day. Both skirted round their day jobs. Edward didn’t want her to know he was famous; she didn’t want him to think she was shallow for writing about celebs for a living.
Edward has met his match in Bella and finds himself wanting to woo a woman – that’s a bit of a sticky wicket for him as he doesn’t know how. He even sends Bella a chatty text instead of his standard booty call. Another first! What will happen when they find out who the other is? And don’t worry, there is no need to know anything about cricket to enjoy this crick-fic.

Hello everyone, I am thrilled to join in the fun this week to review a sweet, little gem of a fic from Down Under, but while my story is not Australian set, it is close, being set in the sizzling Southern Hemisphere… Try, a lovely, romantic story by shellshock81, which began as a one shot for a birthday treat for the author’s friend, Whiti, actually takes place in Auckland, New Zealand. Shellshock81 is a new fan fiction author, one I am enjoying immensely, and it’s no secret I love to discover new writing talent to read. When I found this story I was excited, not only because of her unique, hot Rugbyward but because it’s also well-written and makes me smile!
The story starts out with a literal “bang” 😉 in the Prologue… And being the perv that I am, I was hooked right away! lol But I am going to let you read that yummy hotness for yourself, because while Bella tries to fight her attraction for Kiwiward for a while throughout the regular chapters—one because of her failed romantic past, and two, for not wanting to mix business with pleasure—we all know just how irresistible a hot, fit, sweetheart of a Rugbyward would be!
Not only do we have a swoonworthy rugby-playing Edward in this Romance/Drama, but also a beautiful, strong, witty, intelligent Bella, who uproots her broken-hearted life in the US to take a new job as a rugby team’s Pilates trainer in a new country—”…at Eden Park, New Zealand’s largest and most hallowed rugby stadium and home of the Blues.” You’re probably wondering how she even came to have this opportunity…well, that is one of the unique elements of this story that captured my attention: how Bella came to be friends with Alice through an online book club on Facebook—sound familiar, anyone? *wink*
After the Prologue, the story jumps back three weeks to begin chapter 1. It’s six days after Bella moves to this new world. She is preparing to start her new job, and “Try” to create herself a new and happy life. Bella learns many new Kiwi—the nickname used internationally for people from New Zealand—terms and sayings in her everyday life, tries new drinks at the local hangout, The Kingslander…and she does this all with her new friends—Edward’s brother, Carlisle, and helpful wife, Esme; Emmett who is so damn cute—he’s hilarious and sweet, and takes Bella under his wing; to supportive coach Jasper, and loving, bestie Alice…and of course a whole arsenal of hot, flirty rugby players! *win win*
Last but certainly not least we have the adorable, soft-hearted, sexy number ten Edward Cullen, who adores his new Pilates trainer, wants to give her the world, is “falling in chocolate with” her—you will understand when you read chapter 11, it’s so adorable—and eventually makes her his in more ways than one…
Excerpt from chapter 9:
This time, I allow Bella a moment to catch her breath as I slowly kiss my way back up her body. I position my cock at her entrance before resting my full weight on top of her and framing her face with my arms.
My fingertips brush the hair back at her temple and when she opens her eyes I murmur, “I don’t know what happened in your past, and believe me, I have plenty of fucked-up skeletons in my closet, but I promise I’ll do my best to erase your bad memories and replace them with good ones. I know this is really fast and kinda intense, but I hope you know how crazy I am about you. I’ve never felt this consumed by anyone—and if I’m honest, it’s scary as hell—but please, never doubt how much I care about you, Bella.”
Her eyes are shining when I close the distance between us and kiss her again, slowly shifting forward to enter her. Bella moans into my mouth, making me want to pick up my pace, but I’m determined to show her how I feel about her.
I hook my arms under her shoulders and lick and nip along her jawline as I slowly move in and out of her. Our bodies are pressed so tightly together, it offers little leverage, but what we lose in movement we make up for in passion.
“Oh god, Bella. It’s feels like you’re everywhere around me,” I mumble, not even caring if I’m not making any sense.
Bella’s fist closes around a lock of my hair, and she pulls me closer. “Uhhnn…Edward.”
Her breathy moan spurs me on further, “I’ll never get enough of this.”
Bella’s whimpers blow hot breath across my ear and neck, causing a chain reaction of tingling that ends in my dick. I moan and bend my head down to bite her shoulder gently. “I’m close, baby. Can you get there?”
“God, yes. Just don’t stop talking,” she groans, swivelling her hips in time with mine.
Damn, my girl is hot.
I shift back, lifting her left leg with my right arm to get a better angle and pick up my pace, searching for that magical spot.
“You like it when I talk to you, baby? You like my dirty mouth?”
She grips my hips and pulls me to her harder, “Fuck me, Edward!”
“Yeah, you do. You’re so fucking hot when you talk like that, too. Do you have any idea how much it turns me on?” I slip my left hand down to Bella’s clit and press down, hoping she’s as close as she seems to be.
I’m rewarded for my supernatural powers of observation when she clenches around me and digs her nails into my skin.
One look at her fucking gorgeous face and my strokes become shorter and faster until I release inside her in three long streams. I collapse on top of her, but have just enough blood left in my brain to realise I’m crushing her, so I roll to the side.
When I finally have my own breathing under control, I tug her closer to me and say, “Okay, I may need more than twenty minutes after that one.”
Bella snuggles deeper into my pillow and against me. “‘Kay. Sounds like a plan. Just wake me when you’re ready.”
I swear she’s asleep before she even finishes talking, and I spend a few minutes just staring at her beautiful face, unable to believe that just a few hours ago, I was jealous over her and Riley. My own exhaustion hits me, but I don’t want to fall asleep without cleaning up a bit so I gently worm my way out of bed and grab a washcloth, wetting it with warm water before returning to Bella, who’s in such a deep slumber that she barely moves as I gently wipe her legs.
Knowing I really will want to wake her up in the middle of the night, I decide to take another shower. I laugh to myself at the thought of depleting all of Auckland of its water supply if we keep this up. While I quickly soap and rinse my tired body, it’s still long enough to fog up my bathroom mirror.
I’m getting ready to wipe it away when I’m struck with a brilliant idea. Glancing into my room, I see Bella is still asleep, so I quickly scribble out my note to her.
If all goes as planned, the first thing Bella will see when she steps out of the shower in the morning is:
WILL U B

Aw, see? Sizzling HOT and SWEET! The best of both worlds of Twific Edward! I’ve kind of labeled Kiwiward, Sweetward, too, because he will make you SWOON! We have 16 chapters so far, including the Prologue and an outtake chapter, and while we have a little drama—involving Edward’s past—to keep things interesting, the story is heartfelt, well presented, all the characters are well defined and fun, and, for me, Try is a pleasure to read! And as a bonus, the author is every bit as sweet as her Edward, and when you review, she sends you an outtake in a different POV—sometimes Edward, and even some hilarious but insightful Emmett. Try updates every Thursday, faithfully, so please give it a “Try”! Enjoy!
