Random Rita ~ When Edward is Disadvantaged!

Wet Rob Avi

Good afternoon, ladies!

Wherever possible, I like to bring new stories to your attention that have great potential, with storylines that leave you gaspin’ and wantin’ MORE!

So, when a story by one of our favorite authors is THIS good, it’s my great pleasure to sing its praises to the heavens LOL!

No doubt many of you are already followin’ this story but, for those new to Counselor’s fics, this one is a MUST READ!

Rob Attack

Starts out in summer of 1963. Sweet little ten-year-old Catholic school girl, Bella Christine, meets eleven-year-old smoker with armpit hair who really does live on the wrong side of the tracks, Easy. She and Alice May are mystery solvers in their spare time and Easy (E. C.) and his brother Jap (Jasper) will keep these two little ladies on their sleuthing toes. Warning: Might get hairy.

Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance – Bella, Edward – Chapters: 38 – Words: 61,633 – Reviews: 2,802 – Favs: 432 – Follows: 563 – Updated: 1h ago – Published: Jun 2 – id: 10398693

A quick shout out to Jarkin for the beautiful banner…this is just how I see Easy in my mind!

If there’s anything I love more’n vamp fics, it’s comin’ of age fics! Stories where Edward and Bella meet as young children are so endearin’! When Bella befriends Easy, wantin’ to keep him around so she can feed him as often as possible…and boy, does he need it, poor kid, her grandma tells her she can’t adopt him like a stray puppy!

The fun here is watchin’ Bella manipulate her grandma into doin’ just that, along with Alice’s Aunt May, their nextdoor neighbor, and some other ladies on Darnay Road who could benefit from havin’ a strong boy around to do chores, since most all of them are without handy husbands.

I’m havin’ the best time wonderin’ where Counselor is gonna take this story…school’s about to start, bringin’ an end to the long, hot, lazy days of summer and havin’ Easy underfoot all the time!

With 13 completed fics and this WIP that updates often, you don’t have to worry about Counselor leavin’ you high and dry, so dive on in…the water is fine LOL!

Okay, I got one more I just can’t resist…well, there sure wasn’t any resistin’ it last night LOL!

Rob Attack

The blue hour is the period of twilight each morning and evening when indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue hue. That afternoon, in the forest, Bella sees through Edward’s act and so he stays. He was never likely to get very far anyway, the shy human girl owned him body and soul. That was a few years ago now and that shy human girl has just graduated college . . . .

Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance/Family – Bella – Chapters: 2 – Words: 4,291 – Reviews: 64 – Favs: 53 – Follows: 96 – Updated: 20h ago – Published: Jul 1 – id: 10500426

I hadn’t planned on readin’ this until it was complete but The Blue Hour grabbed me and wouldn’t let go and that was within the first 2 chapters. It’s not that anything untoward has or is happenin’, it’s the heart clenchin’ anticipation that somethin’ is about to change and it might not be for the better!

Mortissues has 9 other complete stories to keep you occupied if you’d rather wait!

What are you ladies readin’ this week?

Rob Attack

Happy Friday, Fourth of July, y’all!

Love the banner, and I am definitely in love with Counselor’s Easy.

  2. rita01tx

Perfect, ain’t it? A little bit of “My Girl” and some “Stand By Me” thrown in…River Phoenix would’ve made a great Easy, wouldn’t he?
Seems Counselor has produced a steady stream of stories for us since she came on the scene with Catwoman in Feb. 2012!
One thing’s for sure, I’ll be lookin’ forward to anything and everything else she writes!!!

Your up early today. Thanks for adding another to my TBR list. Grrr. I’m reading 2 older completed fics. Both are High school settings but different from each other. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6517075/1/Bottled-Lies This is long and takes awhile, and the author was only 13-14 when it was written-impressive writing for one so young. 2nd one – https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4561940/1/Scotch-Gin-and-the-New-Girl
think Dangerous Liasions with this one. Happy Fourth my fellow Texan XOXO

    • rita01tx

LOL! You forget I don’t live in Texas like you do, Bev darlin’! It’s late afternoon my time *gigglesnort!*
Although they are both on my TBR, I haven’t read either of them yet. Bottled Lies hasn’t been on anyone’s radar that I know of so thanks for bringin’ it to our attention!

      • bevey99

Your still from Texas even though you’ve moved 6,000 miles away. Can’t take that out of you.

        • rita01tx

True facts, BB! The Texas hoodie I wear damn near every day proclaims my roots LOL! Well, that and my Texas accent that I never lost!

Happy Independence Day, Rita and all the american girls out there. Its been super busy and I haven’t gotten to comment. I just finished several pdfs of CaraNo’s. So good. I’m currently starting Starry Eyed Inside by Rochelle Allison. Also, reading Claire’s R& P. Can’t get enough of it and am enjoying my little conversations with her. Both of these recs will be sitting on my tablet open, waiting to be read. Always such great reads from you! Have a safe and happy 4th! Muah!!

    • rita01tx

Hi, Naughty darlin’! Happy 4th to you, too! You certainly are readin’ some stellar authors in CaraNo and Rochelle Allison! Starry-Eyed Inside earned 4 stars on my TBR and I don’t give those lightly!
Glad you’re enjoyin’ R&P so much…it’s a real treat to edit that puppy! This upcomin’ chapter is gonna be a surprise *wicked evil laugh!*

  5. I’ll have to check out Darnay Road; I’m never too sure what to expect from Counselor, as some of her stories I’ve loved, and others I just haven’t been able to get into. As for The Blue Hour, I see what you mean – I just read the first two chapters and am now eagerly awaiting an update, as there’s definitely a feeling of impending doom LOL!

Reading mostly WIPs at the moment, as I’m trying to read more ‘real’ books on my Kindle. Quite a few of the popular WIPs – Mason Manor, A Light in the Darkness, the heartbreaking Sleeping Angel, Hollywood and Malice in the Garden, to name just a few.

Along similar lines to The Blue Hour is “Goodbye, Peter Pan” by Bled Dry, the difference being that Edward did leave and doesn’t reappear in Bella’s life until 10 years later, by which time she’s 28 and happily married to Mike. She’s no longer the impressionable, hero-worshipping teenager who was prepared to give up her life at 18 to be like Edward, and you have to wonder what there is for him now he’s returned, with his family, to Forks. This is a clever and well-written story which gives an interesting spin on New Moon.

Summary: Prompted by a feeling, Alice leads the Cullens back to Forks, but ten years is a long time in a brief human life. Edward’s wish for Bella to have a nice human life seems to have been fulfilled. Bella believes that once she loved a remarkable boy, but in the end he didn’t love her. Can Edward convince her she is wrong?

You and I certainly do have similar tastes in fics, Fluffy darlin’! I’m readin’ Masen Manor, A Light in the Darkness and Malice in the Garden…followin’ the others, with a particular eye out for Goodbye Peter Pan!

    • rita01tx

Oh, yeah! I was gonna say the only “real” books I’ve been readin’ are all 12 books of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward and the 3 Crossfire Novels by Sylvia Day…I believe #4 will be comin’ out soon *woo hoo!*

  6. BTW, anyone going to Nashville next week? I’m super-excited to be attending, as I had such a great time in Chicago last year. I hope that if any of you are going, you’ll come and say hello.

    • rita01tx

What’s the occasion, Fluff? I’m always pea green when I see a gatherin’ of our sistahs scheduled and I don’t get to be there *pouty face!*

      • It’s the 2014 TwiFic Meetup of readers and authors. The first one was in Las Vegas in 2011, which I couldn’t go to. The second one was last year in Chicago, which I did attend and which was great fun. This year it’s going to be in Nashville, and although the heat and humidity will probably be a bit much for this pale-skinned Brit, I’m still super-excited to visit a city which is so steeped in musical history.

      • Here’s a link to the TFMU website, in case anyone’s interested.

        • rita01tx

OMG! Just look at all the brilliant authors on the panel this year!!!
Well, Rob’s reaction in this interview is how I feel about missin’ out LMAO!

  7. I have Darnay Road on alert. I’m waiting for it to be completed before I start, but it looks good. I just finished reading Metaphysics (and Metaphysical Wandering) by Anais Mark. Just started A Friend in Heaven by WinndSinger last night. I just couldn’t decide which of my TBR fics to read next so I picked alphabetically. Diplomatic approach. Hope it’s good, so far it’s got my interest.

    • rita01tx

Hi, Kay darlinl’! As much as I love love love Anais Mark’s fics, not one of her stories is marked complete…so frustratin’ *sigh!*
Winndsinger is in my top 10 of authors that I love! Wish she’d write again…haven’t seen anything new since she finished Coloring Outside the Lines, the sequal to The Red Line!
I tried that trick of readin’ alphabetically, but I kept gettin’ distracted LOL! I’d start from the bottom, then move to the top…meet somewhere in the middle and I didn’t even make a dent in my list! So many new fics are added almost every day *groan!*
BUT, I did finally finish readin’ ALL of 107yearoldvirgin’s fics the other day! Well, except for the last WIP she was workin’ on before she disappeared with all her stories for a second time! I keep hopin’ she’ll come back again, but no luck so far!

Hi Rita, Damn I’m late to the party this week. Flippin’ lemon writing! So hard (no pun intended 😉 )
Big kisses to Naughty for the kind words about me and my story xxx
Kay, I also used to recommend Eight days a week as an intro to fan fics and her story, Puddle Jumping was the first ever fanfic I read. (As an aside, 107 has just published Puddle Jumping this week and I understand Eight Days is not going to be far behind it.)
Hope everyone has a great weekend (what’s left of it anyway)
    Hugs xxxx

    • rita01tx

You’re never too late, Claire Bear! And thanks for the tip about Virgie publishin’ her stories! Woulda been nice if she’d said somethin’ on FFN instead of just disappearin’ but, good luck to her!

    • It’s a thrill for me to “discover” one of the cherished authors of the ficdom. As I mentioned to Rita, I am a relative newbie (about a year under my belt I think). That being said, I’ve had an illustrious welcoming care of the wonderful Liz. I owe my well-established addiction to her.

    • naughtyhisbella

You are welcome, Claire! Thanks for the info on 107. I had no idea.
I send eight days and *whispers* —> the original The Office.
Now that its been published I have stopped. Guess I’ll have to quit sending Eight Days now! Hope the rest of your weekend is great too! I’m actually off until Monday so I got to spend time with my guys.

Hi Rita. *waves shyly* Sorry I haven’t been around lately, but been so busy with work and RL that it feels like forever since I’ve been able to read or blog or anything! As always, thanks for the wonderful rec’s. The only thing I’ve had time to read recently is a couple of one-shots! My next goal is to catch-up on Claire Bear’s story (fangirl waves to Claire) and then hopefully reading some of the over 2000 stories on my favorites list. Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July. (I had to work…) RobHugs and kisses 🙂

    • rita01tx

Eewee, darlin’! {HUGS!}} We miss you when you ain’t around, hon! But sometimes work and RL shizz takes priority over readin’ fanfiction and pervin’ on Rob *GASP!*
Livin’ in Holland, I really miss all the fun around the Fourth of July celebrations! The only fireworks I get to see are on New Years Eve LOL! Visit when you can and, if not, just life a smiley face so we know you ain’t forgot us!!!

    • ClaireBamboozle

EeWee, I missed you honey {big hugs} I hate it when real life stops us from having fun 😦
R+P’s not going anywhere, catch up when you get the chance.

  10. eewee333

I could never forget you guys! You’re my TwiPals. I’ll do better keeping in touch. 🙂

  11. Great post, Rita. I have to trot right over to check out The Blue Hour – intriguing! I also had not heard of either Sleeping Angel or Goodbye Peter Pan, so thanks ladies for pointing those out.
I have several fics that I’m re-reading for the purpose of writing reviews, two of my favorites being Fox Fire by WoodLily and Breakdown by Felicity Deadwood. Breakdown is complete and Fox Fire is WIP with recent updates, both terrific AU’s.
I’m also squeeing over Masen Manor and Stupid Volvo Owner. Here’s the URL for Stupid Volvo Owner on TWCS (also available on FFn), in case people aren’t familiar with that one:
http://www.thewriterscoffeeshop.com/library/viewstory.php?sid=9606 (also available on FFn) It started out as wonderfully humorous and now has me by the heart strings.

Did I miss people’s thoughts about “The Rover”? I saw it a week or two ago when it briefly appeared in a theater. Loved it. Not my usual kind of story line, but Rob’s performance was just gripping. Guy Pearce was terrific too.

It’s way too hot in western Oregon these days. I’d make a run to the ocean if I weren’t so busy reading!

    Until next time,

    • rita01tx

      Hey, Renee! {your comment to moderation because of the 3 links}
The only one of your recs I’ve read is Breakdown and, boy, was that a wild ride!
Summary: What if Charlie and Renee institutionalized Bella after Edward left and it only damaged her further? What if Edward returned to beg her to take him back only to find her broken? Could his love repair the damage?

I saw The Rover a month ago in Amsterdam. Didn’t start a thread about it in case someone popped up with spoilers…so many countries aren’t showin’ it yet!
The only thing I said about it was it bleak, brutal and beautiful LOL!
One thing about The Pretty, he’s takin’ us places we’d normally never go and I LOVE IT!!!
Both he and Guy were fuckin’ amazin’ in The Rover, especially Rob, of course. Seriously, he completely disappeared into his portrayal of Rey. Just broke my heart! When it was over, I didn’t wanna leave Rey alone in that dark theatre…silly, I know!
Can’t wait to get my hands on the DVD. In the meantime, how epic was all the RobPorn we got from the promo tour???

  12. Great post, all the stories you mentioned are on my list, I just finish to read
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7043677/1/Fate-Interrupted by drotuno… short vamp story (only 10 chapters ) but what a story! Strong Bella and great
    Edward and all of Cullen’s
    I was re reading
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7103047/10/Fan-Fiction-Sex-Gods-and-Single-Girls by bannerday … excellent story for the summer, her characters are great, funny story full of fluff and this is now complete.

    • rita01tx

Hi Zveka darlin’! I’m ashamed to admit I have not read either of those stories yet *facepalm!*
Thanks for bringin’ them to our attention!

      • Hi Rita 🙂

you are welcome, I’m new in fanfiction but as an avid reader I like to see what others readers like and your blog is great place to know where to find a good story 🙂

        • rita01tx

Oh! I’m so glad you think so, hon! I’m sure you’ll find loads of good reads. Wonderful, new stories pop up every day by brilliant authors {both new and already established} but it’s only by people tellin’ each other about them that we learn about stories that would otherwise languish unread!
It’s up to ALL of us to spread the word when we find such jewels, right?

          • Yeah for sure, there are a lot of beautiful stories, this was the case for Fate Interrupted, I follow Masen Manor and I have Angel and Gravity series on my TBR list, finding this gem was great 🙂 and the same goes for FFSGSG by bannerday even with a lot of reviews the summary didn’t speak to me in first but once I started to read yeah wow!

I am glad to find also somebody in the same time zone as me 🙂
