“The town of Forks is typically synonymous with boredom, not serial killers.”

When Charlie is confronted with a string of bizarre murders he is ill equipped to handle, the FBI sends Special Agent Edward Cullen to help!

Forks Police Department

“Can I help you, son?” a Barney Fife type drawls from the front desk with an ‘I hate Mondays’ coffee cup in hand.

“Uh, yeah. I’m here to see a Chief Swan.” I open my jacket to show my identification. “Special Agent Edward Cullen.”

“You’re a Fed?”

“I’m a Major Case Specialist with the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit. I’ve been sent here at the request of my superiors and the Forks Police Chief to assist on an investigation.”

He tips his chair back on two legs, grinning. “Is that right?”

“Agent Cullen,” a sharp female voice sounds from a nearby office and the officer approaches with her hand extended, “Leah Clearwater.”

“Nice to meet you.”

Her grip is as firm as the set of her jaw. Poised and serious, she motions for me to follow her all the while scowling at the front desk clerk who makes a point of busying himself with some files. “How was your flight out?”

“Long, but uneventful, thankfully.”

“I’m surprised they didn’t send some of the agents from Seattle over to help.”

“They’re working some big trafficking case.”

“Ahh.”

“And besides, cases like these are sort-of my thing.”

“Your thing is brutal murderers?” she asks, opening the door to a conference room lined wall-to-wall with photos of the crime scenes.

My eyes scan the images of the victims, bloodied, battered, and bound among the trees with a purple flowered meadow in the distance.

“Evidently.”

A gentleman stands as I enter even though he looks dead on his feet. Dark hair, tired eyes, and a full-on Magnum PI ’stache. This must be the Andy Griffith to the Barney up front.

“Chief Swan,” I shake his hand, “Special Agent Edward Cullen.”

“Thanks for coming.” Clearing his throat, he turns back to the photographs. “Are you up to speed on everything?”

“I’ve gone through all the info you’ve sent over, but if you don’t mind, I’d like to do a thorough run-through with you.”

I’ll spare you the gory run-through *shudder!* However, even with the presence of the FBI in Forks, the killer racks up more kills, much to the frustration of Charlie and Edward!

ROB ATTACKhttps://www.fanfiction.net/s/13323508/1/To-the-Light

A love story told simply between a broken woman and an extraordinary man who helps her see the beauty in herself again.

Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance/Hurt/Comfort – Bella, Edward – Chapters: 9 – Words: 11,657 – Reviews: 310 – Favs: 123 – Follows: 196 – Updated: 15h ago – Published: Jun 28 – id: 13323508

This author took down all the fics on her profile back in September of 2017 and I truly thought we’d seen the last of her. Well, I’m pleased to announce she’s baaack!

His scuffed boots are two people ahead of me and I curiously watch those boots as they step to the side. The passengers in front of me get on the bus and when I step up next, my eyes meet his once more. Still smiling, he nods at me and my lips curve before I quickly scamper up the steps. There are no seats available so I mumble, “Excuse me, excuse me,” and make my way towards the back. I squeeze my small body in between two people and hang onto the closest available pole.

I try to not look towards the front, but every now and then, I get a glimpse of his funny hat. The bus starts to thin out as it makes its stops and I find a seat. He continues to stand near the front and I stare intently out the window, purposely avoiding him. His stop arrives and it feels safe so I look up and watch the back of his gray wool coat as he moves towards the exit. He pauses and turns his head, his eyes finding mine. He smiles, a softer smile this time, before he nods and departs the bus. I stare at my fidgeting hands and the bus roars to life but I don’t dare look out the window again.

I’m the last stop and winter’s darkness has fallen. A blast of icy wind hits me head-on, causing me to stumble a bit. Wrapping my scarf around my face, I shove my gloved hands in my pockets and push my slight body against the wind. I have to fight it and even though I only have one block to walk, I’m exhausted by the time I get home.

Once inside the warmth of my apartment, I grin when Oliver greets me, meowing and rubbing his furry body between my legs. After quickly removing my gloves, I lean down and scratch his calico ears, so thankful for his companionship. I toss my hat and scarf on the table by the door and hang up my coat before I head to the kitchen to open him a can of cat food.

I heat myself up some soup and eat quietly while I think about the man in the funny hat. I think about his smiles, all twelve of them, or is it thirteen now? I don’t know how to count the ones outside the bus but I try to find meaning behind all of them, to quantify them somehow, but do smiles even have meaning? Of course, they have meaning. They’re a form of communication, albeit a silent form. His all seemed cordial, like a greeting perhaps. Like a thoughtful person showing kindness to a stranger so I come to the conclusion that the man in the funny hat is simply a nice person with a nice smile trying to brighten someone’s day. And he did brighten mine.

I spend the rest of the evening in my comfy chair wrapped in a blanket, reading a book with Oliver purring beside me. I have to read one passage three times because I lack focus. I am distracted by warm smiles and funny hats.

The nightmares stay away for once and I dream of a tall man with a gentle smile, standing at the bus stop. . .

Wearing a funny hat.

Aw, hell *sniff!* I just wanna hug them both to pieces!

ROB ATTACKhttps://www.fanfiction.net/s/13323759/1/A-Dirty-Lion

Edward Cullen is sent to Forks to form a new charter of The Dirty Lions Motorcycle Club. His mission: keep the Werewolves out of Lion territory. Little does he know that putting a stop to the sale of underage girls in their own back yard will bring him more problems than solutions. Hell hath no fury like a woman who needs money for college.

Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance/Crime – Bella, Edward – Chapters: 4 – Words: 12,442 – Reviews: 194 – Favs: 155 – Follows: 279 – Updated: 15h ago – Published: Jun 29 – id: 13323759

Yeah, I’m sure most of you are already hooked on Lionward but for those of you livin’ under a rock…

I trace my finger through an engraved curve on the large wooden table in our meeting room as the other two fucks argue back and forth over what to do about The Raging Werewolves. The roaring lion with his flowing mane is our club emblem, and I felt honored that Carl gifted me this table when he sent me to Forks to be President of The Dirty Lions’ new charter. My mission is simple: clean up the wolf scum that’s trying to nudge their way into Lion territory.

The gang take out a number of said wolf scum durin’ a raid to rescue young girls about to be sold at auction. However, Edward discovers one girl is there willingly for the express purpose of auctionin’ off her virginity for college money…say what?

I follow the hallway to a bathroom, and I enter with my Glock at the ready. The girl I run into is alone, and she’s a little older than the others I’ve seen.

“Who are you?” she asks, looking at me through the mirror as she neatens up her bright red lips.

“I’m here to help.” I take a tentative step, afraid I might scare her. Tattoos and piercings and leather and steel can be a frightening combo.

“I didn’t ask for help.” She props her hip against the counter and turns. “In fact, you’re holding me up.”

She tries to walk past me, but I grab her arm. “There’s nothing to hold you up from. This auction is canceled.”

“No!” Her eyes widen as she tries to jerk away. “Let go of me!”

“Little girls aren’t mature enough to make these kinds of decisions for themselves,” I grit, getting pissed that she seems willing to be sold.

“You should appreciate it when someone goes out of their way to help you.”

“Get your fucking hand off me,” she snaps, drawing back and slapping the shit out of me. “I’m a grown fucking woman, and you have no right to decide what I can and can’t do with my body.”

My eyes narrow, and I allow them to stray, falling down her body. Her curves are pronounced, and her tits are a decent size. With the makeup, she could pass for eighteen, but I know better. This is a little girl auction. So what if she’s a willing one?

Not on my watch.

Anything more will give away all the good stuff but trust me, it’s fireworks from there as Edward and the wild cat negotiate a different but mutually beneficial arrangement.

For him, she’s a perfect match. Sometimes it’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Rated: Fiction M – English – Hurt/Comfort/Drama – Bella, Edward – Chapters: 11 – Words: 18,975 – Reviews: 1,345 – Favs: 444 – Follows: 873 – Updated: 18h ago – Published: May 2 – id: 13275915

Edward’s assistant gives him a rundown on Isabella Swan…

“Isabella Marie Swan, age 28, born in small town Goderich, Ontario to Charles and Renee. Prefers to be called ‘Bella’. Blood type A positive. Textbook vaginal birth with no complications. Parents divorced when child was two. Mother gained custody with visitation allotted with the father for summer vacations. Resided throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and Ontario. As a young child, she was taken to emergency for one bout of pneumonia, one broken collarbone with cuts and scrapes from a bicycle accident, twice for sprained ankles and once for sprained wrist. No concerns of child abuse ever levied, or considered within the doctor’s notes.

Solid and consistent grades through high school, maintaining a B-plus grade average. Moved back to Goderich during eleventh grade to live with father. Graduated Goderich District Collegiate Institute with a 79 average. Worked part-time at Newton’s Outfitters. Attended Fanshawe Community College Woodstock for six years. Holds several diplomas, certificates and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. It looks like the initial plan was to start at Fanshawe, then move to Toronto and go to Ryerson or York, but the funds just weren’t there. Charles Swan married Sue Clearwater a few months before Isabella started college. The money went to the wedding and the mortgage of the family home instead. Isabella rented a small apartment in Woodstock with Leah Clearwater, her new stepsister, and waited tables part-time. High marks and honours from Fanshawe.

Upon graduating, she moved to Toronto and was employed here as an Administrative Assistant, third grade in the HR department. She’s since been promoted to second grade and is in line to be promoted again within the next few years. She rents a studio in a less than savoury neighbourhood, but on one of the nicer streets. She’s never been late with her rent and the landlord says she’s a model tenant; no parties, loud music or frequent guests. She holds a couple of store loyalty cards, pays off her credit card within a month, two at the very most. She rides the TTC or walks; no car in her name, but she does have a license to drive. She has no pets, no computer and no mobile phone.

She’s dated off and on, in college mostly, but nothing serious that we can find. She’s solidly heterosexual in her choice of partners. STD tests have been clear. She keeps fresh condoms in her bedside table. There’s a blue lipstick vibrator in the drawer as well, but the batteries are dead and she’s made no effort to change them in the two months we’ve been surveilling her.”

If you go forward with this, there is a very high probability she will keep quiet, especially with the proper incentives in place. This is the right girl, Mr. Cullen. She ticks every box and then some.”

The right girl for what, though? Only one hint…despite his motives, you’re not gonna like this Edward! However, we’re allowed to hate him until he redeems himself!

Waitress Bella wants nothing to do with her boyfriend’s shady drug dealings. When he forces her to do him a favor, she finds herself on the wrong side of the wrong sort of people… all except one. M for a reason. 00s vibes.

Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance/Angst – Bella, Edward – Chapters: 3 – Words: 10,872 – Reviews: 96 – Favs: 129 – Follows: 328 – Updated: Jul 6 – Published: Jun 22 – id: 13318558

At least Bella’s not stupid enough to go alone when her abusive boyfriend forces her to make a drop…

“Where is he? James?” Curly says, placing the money back in the envelope as he ignores Piggy. The question is directed at Charlotte who shrugs and looks at me.

“I dunno, he said he had something to do,” I say, running a hand through my hair self-consciously. Curly looks like he doesn’t believe me but it’s the truth.

“You sure he didn’t say what he was doing?”

I shake my head.

Good-Looking catches my attention again as he lights his cigarette, his profile cast in light and dark, cheeks hollowing on his inhale. He exhales a cloud of smoke out the corner of his mouth and I can’t bring myself to look away.

“You’re James’ girl?” he says to Charlotte who starts laughing.

“Boo, do I look like I’d go near that asshole? I’d rather drink bleach. Nah, B, here is his girl,” she nods at me. He appraises me silently but Curly is more vocal.

“His girl? Well damn. Why didn’t you say? What’s your name, Doll?”

I want to lie, but I think better of it, resigning myself to small talk.

“Bella.”

“Bella,” he draws my name out, rolling it around his mouth as if he’s trying to taste it, try it out, see how it likes it. It makes me feel uncomfortable so I look away, still feeling the weight of his gaze. He says something but it’s a lot quieter, like he’s turned around, so I don’t hear it properly. A sharp voice in the negative makes me look up at them again.

Curly is shrugging and turns back to face us. Behind him Good-Looking is tense, frowning, taking another pull on his cigarette. He meets my eyes steadily, but it’s me who looks away first, unnerved. Maybe I should’ve been paying attention.

“Your friend don’t seem too keen on your boyfriend,” Curly says to me, amused. “Now, why would that be?”

He would pick up on that. I’m not sure where this is going so just as I say, “That’s not any of your business.” Charlotte chimes in with, “Are you for real?”

“Shut up, Char,” I hiss.

She’s not listening.

“You got eyes, ain’t you? He’s punchin’. My girl deserves the best and he definitely ain’t it.”

Curly smiles and I cross my arms frowning. What this has to do with anything I don’t know. This whole situation is beyond bizarre.

“And your name? Char?” Curly says his attention now on Charlotte.

“Charlotte. What’s it to you?” she retorts, clearly not in the mood to entertain even though she offered up details in the first place.

“Absolutely nothing, sweetheart,” Curly says nonplussed. Then, “This thing goin’ to be regular?” He looks at me. Does he mean doing this for James? I shrug a little. I hope to God that it ain’t.

“For future reference, this fat fuck is Ben,” he gestures to Piggy who glowers, still rubbing the back of his head. “GQ over there is Masen,” he waves a hand at Good-Looking. “And I’m Alec.”

“Well, I’d say it’s been nice meeting y’all, but I’d be lyin’. If we’re all good here, it’s getting real late, and a girl has to get some beauty sleep,” Charlotte says pointedly.

Opening the car door I slide in, half-expecting to be stopped. Never have I felt more relief for sitting in this rust bucket. Hastily I shove my keys in the ignition, realising my hands are trembling badly.

Alec swaggers towards us, tapping the window and leaning in when I wind it further down. His icy blue eyes meet mine.

“Tell James, he’s a grand short, if he’s not got it next week, Caius is going to take what’s his and make it his own—you know what I’m sayin’, Doll?”

He smiles again, and it chills me.

“Sure.”

As Alec moves away I find Masen watching—me or Alec I’m not sure. His expression is unreadable, but he’s dismissing whatever Ben is saying to him with a slow shake of his head.

I reverse out hurriedly and we’re silent until we hit tarmac and streetlights.

“Fuck this shit,” Charlotte murmurs.

“Yeah.”

Can’t wait to see what happens when James sends her again when he’s short and you know he will!

Bella is desperate to see her celebrity crush in person even if that means spending an entire week with her annoying co-worker, Edward Cullen. BxE, HEA

Rated: Fiction M – English – Romance/Humor – Chapters: 5 – Words: 8,421 – Reviews: 249 – Favs: 151 – Follows: 322 – Updated: Jul 5 – Published: Jun 7 – id: 13306372

Only a few people, most of them online friends, knew my deep, dark secret, and Edward Cullen wasn’t one of them.

I was a closet Arrowhead.

Arrowheads were fans of Aro Volturi—film star extraordinaire. I had been infatuated with the Italian actor since seeing his debut movie four years prior. With his boyish good looks, sexy accent, and alluring charisma, he encompassed everything I desired in a man.

And since I lived in Kentucky, I never had the opportunity to see Aro in person. Most of his appearances at film premieres and conventions were either on the east or west coast.

Sometimes, it felt as if the only stars who ever graced the Bluegrass State were country singers and NASCAR drivers. So when I learned Aro was going to be in attendance at the Savannah Film Festival, I knew I had to go.

As soon as the tickets went on sale for the event, I had purchased two; one for me, and the other, for my best friend, Alice.

Even though she wasn’t as passionate about Aro as I was, she had jumped at the chance to go on a girl’s trip with her best friend. She had even talked me out of flying and suggested we drive instead.

“It’s only nine hours away. We’ll save money and get to see parts of the country we’ve never seen before. Come on, Bella; it’ll be an adventure.”

It hadn’t taken long for me to agree, but now, three days before our trip was to begin, Alice had canceled, and I was heartbroken.

One guess who volunteers to take Alice’s place LOL!

In all honesty, I had been surprised by Edward’s suggestion to visit Cumberland. Alice had agreed to stop for a short visit, but I had felt awkward asking Edward to do the same. What was even more surprising was the fact he had remembered me talking about my alma mater and how much I had wanted to return.

Maybe Cullen wasn’t such an asshole after all.

As we drove down I-75, I stole a few glances at him out of the corner of my eye. The early morning sunlight streamed into the car, highlighting his profile, which featured a chiseled jaw, straight nose, and square chin. His rusty, brown hair flopped carelessly onto his forehead making him appear younger than his twenty-nine years.

“Are you checking me out, Swan?” His mouth curved into its trademark grin. “Because it sure feels as if you are.”

Heat filled my cheeks at being caught looking, but I most definitely wasn’t checking him out.

I changed my stance; Cullen was most definitely an asshole.

“Ugh! As if,” I said with a huff, crossing my arms against my chest.

“Whatever you say, Cher.” He chuckled.

“Well, well, well. Did the mighty Edward Cullen allude to a movie?”

“I do watch films,” he replied with a scoff, “and don’t change the subject, you were totally scoping out my goods.”

“Did you hit your head? Who even talks like that?” I said before repeating, “scoping out my goods.”

Cullen released a good-natured laugh before pulling onto the exit ramp.

“That was quick,” I mused as I pulled down the visor to check my hair and face.

“You look fine.”

“Wow, you really know how to make a girl feel special,” I teased as I powdered the shine off my nose.

He shook his head. “Gorgeous. Is that better?”

I rolled my eyes. “You don’t need to go to extremes and lie either.”

He mumbled something I couldn’t quite make out before saying, “Now, where to first?”

And the banter between these two only gets better and better LOL!

ROB ATTACKhttps://www.fanfiction.net/s/13270755/1/In-My-Brother-s-Shadow

As a child, Bella always felt second best when in it came to her twin brother, Emmett. Now years later, an accident has brought her back to Forks. Will she be thrust back into her brother’s shadow? Or will she be finally be seen as something other than Emmett’s sister.

Rated: Fiction M – English – Drama – Bella, Edward – Chapters: 11 – Words: 27,549 – Reviews: 1,181 – Favs: 625 – Follows: 1,105 – Updated: Jul 5 – Published: Apr 26 – id: 13270755

I called my father directly, while at the same time going on Facebook to look at Emmett’s page. My call went to voicemail as I stared at the screen, seeing message after message from people telling Emmett to ‘get well soon’ and sending their prayers.

What the hell? Was I the last person to know that my twin brother was in the hospital? I knew I lived on the opposite side of the country and we’ve never been close, but I thought I would get a phone call. I typed his name into the search engine but before I could hit enter my phone rang.

“Dad?” I answered quickly.

“Are you Isabella Swan?” a stranger asked.

“Yes, who’s is this,” I questioned.

“Dr. Cullen, I work at Forks General Hospital. We have been trying to reach your mother. The only number we have appears to have been disconnected,” he said.

“My mother. . . she passed away.” I turned to see if Alice was still in the room.

She was sitting on the edge of my bed, chewing on her thumbnail.

She looked at me wide-eyed.

“I’m sorry; I didn’t know.” He sounded apologetic. “Isabella, I need to speak with your current guardian.”

“I don’t have one; I’m emancipated. Can you please tell me what’s going on with Emmett? I heard on the news there was an accident, but I don’t know anything else,” I asked.

“I’m afraid your brother’s condition is very serious. Your father’s too, however, he sustained fewer injuries,” he explained.

“Wait. . . Ch. . . Dad was hurt too?” My heart skipped a beat, and I started to feel numb. “How bad is it? Are they going to survive?” I  started to get upset.

“I think it would be better if I could talk to you in person. Are you able to come here?” he asked.

“Yes, but you have to give me more. Are they going to live through this?” I jumped when Alice placed her hand on my shoulder.

“I’m fairly confident your dad will make a full recovery. It’s too early to know about Emmet. The sooner you can get here the better since right now you’re their only living relative,” Dr. Cullen explained calmly.

“I’ll be there on the next flight,” I promised and quickly hung up the phone.

~ ~ ~

“I need to pack. . . ” I started to stand, then sat again. “I need to get a ticket.”

“Wait, why are you going?” Alice asked incredulously.

“You know why. Both Emmett and my father are in the hospital,” I explained.

“So, handle it over the phone,” she insisted.

“The doctor asked me to come. I’m the only family they have left,” I told her.

“That fact didn’t have them running here when. . . ”

“Alice, stop.” I clenched my eyes shut as I felt a twinge of hurt from the memory.

“I’m sorry,” she said softly. “I’m trying to look out for you. I don’t like how they’ve never put you first. And here you are, ready to rush off to help them. I know you; you’ll stay and nurse them back to health. And that’s not a bad thing if the people you’re helping are appreciative of your efforts.”

“Thank you. And you’re right; I’m not them, which is why I have to go. He’s still my dad and Emmett’s my twin. Two wrongs never make a right,” I reasoned.

“I’ll get the tickets, you pack.” Alice shooed me from the chair.

Once she gets to Forks, she’s taken under the wings of Carlisle and Esme, along with their son, Edward, who Bella remembers from grade school as little Teddy…he’s not so little anymore!

Your recs are good! I have started a few, but I hate to admit that I am turning into one of those complete only girls – or I’m heading in that direction. My favorite WIP at the moment is https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13302557/1/Zebra-Cakes-Heart-Eyes-the-Sweetest-Obsession Small audience, and she updates sporadically – but we are very appreciative.

SPIN OFF OF YMSM: She nods, wide-eyed and so damn innocent. “School’s out for the summer. I’ll be seeing a lot of you, J.” She leans even further over the counter, having to get on her tip toes. “I’ll be kissing you all summer.” Fuck me. “Don’t you want to kiss me, J?” Rated M for later. Should probably read YMSM first, but I wouldn’t say you HAVE to.

I loved the kids, their nicknames and how well they all got along as a blended family. Great Edward, with a sweet, maternal Bella. I liked how you tied up the Tanya loose end, while giving Royce a nice dose of poetic justice. A joy to read!

I’ve never read Your My Best Friend, or the sequel, going to go download them now. I’m following Zuma already. Thanks Donna!

Oh my goodness, I just read the first chapter of To the Light. It’s wonderful! And better yet, it sounds like she’s already written the whole thing. I’m going to catch up on the rest when I get up. Thanks for the rec!

Hello, Rita! As always, I’m delighted to see your post. I have never been a Mobward fan, but several of your WIP’s have my ears perked up for sure.

And despite what I said about Mobward, I am passing along my rec for a very good story I just finished this morning, The Confidence Man by OhMyWord: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/5850826/1/The_Confidence_Man
“The target is Isabella Swan, fellow graduate student. Came into a fortune when her mother died, she doesn’t seem to care to do anything with it. Quiet, shy, just waiting for The One. I’ll be everything she wants me to be.”

It’s a Criminalward story, beautifully written, lots of twists and turns. It grabbed my attention to the extent that I kept finding myself sneaking “just one chapter” (yeah, right) all day long. It has been around forever (completed in 2010), but maybe I’m not the only one who missed it.

I recently finished and am reviewing an AU story that turned up in the monthly TwiFanfictionRecs completed stories poll, Lightning Crashes by Psvtiger:

“Bella makes the decision to leave Phoenix forever after a tragic accident. The cold numbness that has imprisoned Bella’s heart begins to subside when she finds herself falling for the only person at Forks H.S. capable of tearing down her walls.”

It’s quite a different backstory for Bella. My favorite thing about this fic is that she and Edward genuinely become close friends long before she’s up for a romantic relationship. And this Edward is a gem. The author includes an awful lot of songs, especially in the early chapters, but it makes sense for where Bella’s head is, and I found it easy to just skim over that. To use Donna’s word, it has a “small audience”, and IMHO it deserves more.

I hope you’re having a good summer with plenty of reading time. I just finished 6 weeks that felt like I was never home, so I’m looking forward to that “lazy” part of summer!
