Yes, I’m alive and well…the ‘Rona didn’t get me! However, I did welcome another birthday! *Happy 73 to me!* Such an accumulation of years means my get up and go seems to have got up and went AWOL, at least for awhile LOL!
Lucky for us all, fics like today’s recs keep my mind sharp and active! My first two choices come from lethal combinations of some brilliant authors who have teamed up to literally blow our minds!
See if you don’t agree…

She was clearly in pain. She clearly needed help. How could I deny her? How could I ignore the distress of a child of God? I couldn’t. And that was my downfall. Some drama, some laughs, plenty of UST. BxE AH AU of the spiritual kind
Head bowed. Reverent. Eyes closed. Hands folded.
For her to stay away.
For her to come.
For these sinful thoughts to fade like clouds in the height of summer.
“Father.” I’m urged to get up. To get going. To lead my congregation.
My eyes glance around and stop… just there… front row, right side, five in.
My breathing ceases altogether as I take in the sight of her.
Jeans, t-shirt. Leather jacket.
Legs crossed. Hands by her sides. Eyes on me, lit with fire.
There is no friendly smile on her lips. No word of God in her hands. No shame in her reasons for being here.
And she is magnetic.
That look on her face. A simple dare in her silent rebellious expression.
I’ve forgotten my sermon all together.
I’ve forgotten my vows.
Promises made to men much holier than I. Promises to God.
I can’t even remember what those promises were now.
I can only remember her.
Eyes, Lips, jaw, neck.
A whisper. A secret. Just between us. And God.
I let my eyes close for a moment.
I blink them open again.
I’m pulled away from dark thoughts with a cough from the crowd. I tug at the collar around my neck, symbolizing my conviction, my position. My failures. It used to comfort me. Now it’s suffocating.
And I see the looks on everyone’s faces. Waiting, wondering, suspecting.
Hooked already? Why am I not surprised LMAO!

Dr. Edward Cullen, hot shot neurosurgery attending at Olympic Med for over a year, still hadn’t bothered to learn anyone’s names or positions. He pissed off the nurses, badmouthed the residents, and tortured the interns. He was known around the hospital as “McBitchy,” a catchy name coined by surgical intern Rosalie Hale. Dr. Cullen needs an intern for the day. Who he gets is Dr. Isabella Swan and the fun begins…
(Bella and Rose are roommates)
Rose threw open the door and found a startled Edward Cullen with his fist raised and ready to knock on the door. Her mouth dropped open as she blinked at him, then her expression hardened. “Hell-to-the-fuck-ass no!” she cried.
“What kind of—”
Rose slammed the door before Edward could finish his sentence, turning her furious attention to Bella. “Did that concussion completely destroy your brain?”
“Rose, I can expla—”
“Edward Cullen? Edward fucking Cullen? What the hell are you thinking going on a date with that sorry excuse for a human being?”
“I’m…” Bella paused as Edward knocked on the door.
“Let me just get that…”
Bella opened the door, and an annoyed Edward said, “This door isn’t but so thin.”
“Oh, no.” Rose stepped between Bella and Edward. “Did I hurt your feelings? Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot, huh?”
Edward raised an eyebrow. “And you are?”
“Not someone you want to fuck with,” she hissed. “You’re on my time, on my porch…”
“But I am not here for you. I am here for Bella. So if it’s all the same to you…”
He reached for Bella’s hand, but Rose shoved it away.
“Over my dead body.”
“Rose,” Bella said. “I know you’re trying to protect me, but there’s really no need. Because this… this isn’t what it looks like.”
Rose snorted. “Famous last words.”
“Look, Mouth Almighty,” Edward said. “I’m not going to jackhammer her chastity belt or ask her to pose nude on my piano. I’m just taking her to dinner so my mother will quit trying to fix me up with every bubble-headed female this side of the Mississippi River.” He looked at his watch for emphasis. “And you’re making me late.”
Rose turned around to look at Bella. “Is that true?”
“There’s a little more to it than that,” Bella said. “But yeah, that’s the gist.”
“Is he blackmailing you?”
“If anything, I’m manipulating him.”
“Really?” Rose perked up at Edward’s groan. “Then go with my blessing!”
Bella headed out the door with a smile. “Thank you.”
“Yes, thank you, Mother Inferior,” Edward said.
“Be nice,” Bella told him as they descended her front stairs. “She was five seconds from kicking your ass.”
“Three,” Rose said from the doorway. “And I’ve got a black belt in nut-punching.”
“What a charmer,” Edward muttered as he walked Bella toward his car. “Does she treat all your visitors like this?”
“We don’t get many…” Bella balked as Edward held open the passenger door for her. “What are you doing?”
“I’m being a gentleman. What does it look like?” As she stared at him in shock, he stormed around to the driver side. “Just get in. Blonde Am-Bitchin’ is still glaring at me, and I don’t want her throwing shit at my car.”
“Is everything all right?” Rose called out. “I have mace!”
“It’s okay, Rose!” Bella waved back. “I’ll see you when I get home!”
Edward slammed his door, and Bella got in, closing her door with more appropriate force. Edward pulled off as soon as Bella fastened her seatbelt, his face pinched in a scowl.
Bella watched her familiar surroundings disappear and thought, “This is going to be the longest night of my life.”
Me, I’m in it for the epic snarkfest LMAO!
My first COMPLETE fic rec comes from a new author, Krida86! Yes, Edward and Bella are wolf shifters but Bella is also an earth witch. Wolves and witches don’t mix…or do they?

“When you arrived, I could feel you behind me, and it was as if all rationality just evaporated,” I continue, trying to explain.
He looks thoughtful, drawing his lips tightly into his mouth for a moment before responding.
“When I saw you, all I could think of was that I needed to touch you. Everything else just disappeared as well.”
I look down, suddenly too embarrassed to meet his eye. “Have you ever heard of something like this happening before?” I question, my cheeks burning as memories of what we’ve just shared starts flashing in my mind.
Edward grows quiet. I shoot him a quick glance and see that his gaze is narrowed and focused on something ahead of him as he thinks. His jaw tightens slightly. I know he’s remembered something.
“There are a few cases where the connection between two wolves that are meant to imprint begins to evolve even before the actual imprint itself. It isn’t common, but there have been cases of sudden possessiveness, strong physical attraction, sex…” his voice fades.
I look down again, remembering how Leah had implied the same thing. Could Edward be my mate? How exactly did I feel about that? I’d been very negative to it earlier, but now… Something had changed. My wolf, who had stayed dormant for the entire exchange between us, wags her tail in excitement at the thought of imprinting with Edward. I think back to how affectionate and protective he’s been over the past few days. He’s been my protector, my rock, through some pretty difficult times. I realize that I’ve begun to develop quite strong feelings for him. My train of thought comes to a stop when he begins to brush his jeans almost violently.
“That can’t be the case between us, though.”
I turn my head towards him, a little shocked by how harsh his voice is and how certain he sounds. He stands up, keeping his head tall as the mask of indifference falls into place as he begins to walk away. I stand up as well, my legs slightly unsteady.
“May I ask how you can say that with such conviction?” I ask carefully, a hint of hurt behind my words.
He looks away, a flash of annoyance, or is it anger, crossing his features. I jump back when I see how his eyes blaze in deep resentment and rage when he finally turns my way.
“Because, Isabella, I am the goddamned Beta of one of the most powerful packs in the US, and you are nothing but a weak halfling and an untrained witch. Why on earth would the universe put us together?”
He takes a step closer, his finger pointing accusingly my way. I step back as if he’s slapped me.
“No, this is all you! You are just like your mother. She weaseled her way into our pack and stole one of our strongest wolves.” His voice is harsh and accusing.
What on earth is he implying?
“You put some crazy hex on me, but I am on to you, little witch. You better watch your back, because I will not be manipulated. I will not fall for a conniving witch the way Charlie did. You stay away from me!”
The sweet and tender Edward that I’ve just begun to get to know these past few days is gone, and in his place there is a cold, suspicious and angry man that regards me with hatred in his eyes. Things have changed so quickly. The loving man who, only minutes ago, brought so much pleasure with his touch, is nowhere in sight. The intimate experience we’ve shared suddenly brings nothing but shame and confusion.
Oooh, and guess what? She’s already well into the sequel!
The sensations flowing through me are so strong and heightened that they don’t even feel like my own. His hips don’t let up on their movement almost as if he is just as lost in this moment as I am. We are both caught up in a tornado of lust, where the only thing that matters are the desires of the flesh. I can feel the tension building within me and, as odd as it may sound, I can feel it building within him as well.
Before I can even react, there is a strange and almost alien shiver of awareness that runs down my spine and it is the only premonition I have before Edward’s long frame is almost brutally ripped away from mine. He lands heavily on the bed beside me and we both lay there for a moment trying to calm our gasping breaths and cool our overheated bodies.
My eyes quickly search out his, but they are otherwise occupied, fixed on the dark brown wooden beams on the ceiling above us. I know I should probably try to figure out where the hell we are, but at this precise moment, the only thing I care about is him and I need him to look at me and explain to me why he pulled away. I hate how quickly insecurity rises within me, but when he doesn’t meet my gaze at once, leaving me only with his strong profile, it doesn’t take long for that familiar sense of unease to take hold. As soon as it does, however, Edward quickly turns his head towards me, his brow furrowed as if there is something he doesn’t approve of.
“Don’t,” he commands in a deep voice, almost as if he can hear what I am thinking. He quickly moves closer, tilting his tall frame in my direction.
His eyes are a vibrant green that quite literally takes my breath away and the determination blazing in them now makes my heart skip a beat. I jump a little when his hand moves from his side to cup my cheek, but the heat of his palm against my cheek coaxes out a sense of calm within me. The insecurity within me doesn’t disappear, but it fades substantially.
My body rolls to my side to mirror his position and we are now lying face to face. His thumb begins to lightly stroke my cheek and my eyes close at the incredible sweetness of his touch. When they open, I am shocked by the intensity swirling in his green pools. He is studying me so intently that I struggle for a moment to keep my eyes on his. I can’t read his expression and that scares me a little. I am reminded that there is so much about him that I don’t know and yet through the imprint we are now connected in a way that brings most regular long term relationships to shame.
They’ve definitely imprinted but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still important issues left to be resolved!
Last COMPLETE rec for now is a fabulous Mobward from HeartforTwilight and, if you’ve read her Bound Series, you’ll know that means binge readin’ into the wee hours of the night LOL!
I.M. Swan, a best-selling author, is on top of the literary world. After coming off her book tour for her latest book, she has begun her research for the next, a book on the Chicago Mafia. Stumbling upon an obscure journal in an Italian bookstore, she finds herself in grave danger from simply having it in her possession.
Aro Volturi planned and executed the complete destruction of the Cullen family. Wiping away any trace of them from the face of the earth, or he thought so.
Edward Cullen was smuggled away from the devastation with the aid of his faithful nanny, who kept him safe until it was time for him to take revenge for his family’s death. Training and building a new, stronger family to take back what is rightfully his and executing the man who took his family from him.
While following one of Aro’s hitmen, Edward witnesses an attack on a young woman in an alley. Coming to her aid, he is mesmerized by her beauty and, once he gets to really know her, he is in awe of her intellect.
Together they are unstoppable…vengeance will be theirs!
