80’s Rocker, Edward Cullen, is the frontman for the enormously popular band, Cullen. He’s every woman’s dream; handsome, wealthy, and talented, but the elusive rocker has something to hide until an overwhelmingly gifted, doe-eyed beauty steals his heart at first sight and sound.

My piano faces stage-left, and I turn my head to address the audience as I lean into the mic, “Hey, Seattle, it’s nice to be close to home.”

The crowd roars.

“We’ve been on the road for nine and a half months,” I play a few notes.

Emmett stands at a mic and kids, “Time to check if you’re a daddy.”

The crowd laughs.

I defend, “In your fuckin’ dreams, my brother. I cover my joystick.”

Jazz chuckles into his mic, “The man covers it twice.”

Garrett joins in from the back, “And how would you know, Dweeb?”

Jasper freezes and points. “He told me,” he spits.

“Spitting in the corner over there with a red face and angry eyes is my brother from another mother, Jasper ‘The Jazzman’ Whitlock, lead guitarist.” Jasper’s fingers move with precision. His strings siren the crowd to roar. “And he’s no peepin’ Jazzman!”

Jasper chuckles as he makes Gertie sing.

“On the drums,” I announce and point to Garrett. He flips his sticks, twirling them over his toms* and snare*, attacking his hi-hat* and screaming a ‘whoo oo.’ “My older cousin, the sex-starved beater, Garrett, ‘The Hammer’ Norman.”

Garrett takes a bow, and there are more roars.

“Yes, to my right, my big brother, the bad ass from Forks, the twinklest toes of the North West, and bass guitarist, Emmett, ‘The Love Machine’ Cullen.”

Loud screams and whistles blare through the air. Emmett, plucking out some low notes with a quick rhythm. Dimples deep, he moves his head from side to side in a grimacing fiercely in concentration.

“And yours truly, I’m Edward, ‘The Frontman’ Cullen.” I nod and the place shatters from the crowd’s reaction. “I’ll play any instrument if you’ll play mine.”

Through the blaring noise, I start to lightly play a soft melody.

Within seconds, you could hear a pin drop. I stop, finish my drink and continue to play. I lean forward to the mic and sing,

“I’m not the man you think I am.

I’m not the guy to say goodbye.“

I get a shiver, and I stop. Emmett approaches the piano, and I jump up, a little wobbly, but wink at him. He steps away, giving Jazz and Garrett the high sign.

Pulling a mic from a stand, I rasp, “Naw, naw, naw, we need some rock’ n roll. You fucking hear me, people.” I rouse the crowd clapping my hands and running from one end to the other. Garrett follows along with snaps on his snare. Emmett taps out the beat on his thick strings, as Jasper segues into the next song.

I jump onto my bench with both feet resting on the cushion and leap into a 360-degree angle doing a roundhouse kick with my right leg pointing straight up, running to stage left and pushing my legs off the wall into a backflip and then three handsprings. I stop in front of Emmett and he high-fives me.

One last jump; I set my boot-clad feet at the edge and push off strongly, doing a forward roll.

For three solid hours, we play three sets, introduce more new songs from the next album, and I’m about as dead as I can get. My head pounds and I’m numb all over.

The four of us stand center stage, arm in arm, bow in unison, saying ‘goodnight’ before exiting stage left. When we break apart, Emmett still has an arm over my shoulder, holding me up. “I got you, bro.”

Once the tour ends and the boys get to go home, Alice takes them out to Rosalie’s club to see a new singer.

Rosalie looks to the back hallway as Bella makes her way out clutching her guitar.

The crowd whistles, shouts, and claps.

Jasper hums, “Man, that’s a Gibson, Hummingbird Vintage Cherry Sunburst.” He exhales a low whistle.

I shake my head, “It’s a beauty.”

Emmett pokes me from the back. “So’s the girl.”

Bella sits on the stool adjusting her guitar strap around her shoulder flipping back her hair.

“I’m gonna leave all of you in Bella’s capable hands,” Rosalie announces, gives the mic over to her, as she walks off the stage sitting next to Emmett and Garrett.

Bella shyly clears her throat and looks around the room. She adjusts the top mic near her mouth, as the bottom one will amplify the guitar.

After a few strums of her strings, as she fine-tuning the sound, she begins to play and speak into the mic, “I’m really nervous.” She bites her bottom lip. “So, try to be kind.”

The crowd, ‘Aws.’

Bella notices Ali, and her eyes widen when she sees the rest of us.

She frowns as Rosalie mouths, “You can do this.”

Bella takes a deep breath.

I sit forward in my chair watching her closely. She has a light touch to her strokes.

“I’m going to cover a few artists’ songs from other artists. Hopefully, I’ll get brave enough and play a few of my own.” She softly laughs.

I can’t lean close enough, now. I anticipated this soft, sweet voice coming from her pouty alluring mouth but I’m finding just the opposite.

She plays the intro to ‘What about Love’ by Heart. Her voice is soft and sultry with the first few lines. With her eyes closed, she hits the high notes with ease. Jasper gasps and grabs my arm. I know what he feels. Rosalie nudges my side, over Emmett, and shouts, ‘Go, Bella.’

I hear Emmett telling Rose that she’s amazing, while Garrett taps out the beat on the table.

She plays the instrumental lead with pick in hand not missing a note. Jasper now leans forward watching her with eagle eyes. She continues the chorus.

Bella opens her eyes and looks in my direction, seemingly singing to me. Her focus doesn’t leave mine, and I draw into her. I can’t look away . . . and like a moth to a flame, she pulls me in.

The song ends, and everyone jumps to their feet.

Bella looks around with a shy smile, covering her mouth with her hands. “You sure know how to make a girl feel good.” She laughs.

“Thank you.”

I’ve been a huge Gabby1017 fan since she first showed up with Under My Nose and she just keeps gettin’ better and better with each new story!

It doesn’t matter when I live my life, as long as it’s with you.

The attic of the old house I was renting contained so many fascinating items. I was considering buying it, but for the moment, I wanted to rent and see if I could be happy here.

Digging through to the back of the closet, a small box called my attention to it, though I couldn’t have said why. Lifting the lid, I found a large photograph album at the top; it was old, that much I could tell, its pages sepia-toned and crinkled with age.

Fascinated by the prospect of a detailed look into the past, I pulled it from the shelf and turned to the window alcove, where I proceeded to throw a dust-covered cloth off what proved to be a loveseat. Sitting down and placing the box beside me, I opened it, excitement rippling through me as I removed the album from the top to find more photos and letters situated underneath.

I was surprised they were in as good condition as they appeared to be, considering how old they were. Their age, like that of the books, gave them a sepia tone and some of them were creased and worn as if they had been lovingly handled. There were a few in frames, which were in better condition, depicting an older couple, her seated in a large throne-like chair, him standing regally behind.

I wondered who they were and what their story was. Had they lived in this house? How old were they? Were they married? Were they happy? Judging by the expressions on their faces, they didn’t seem happy, though looking closer there were laughter lines around their eyes. No airbrushing for them!

He, the man in the next picture, had much lighter hair, so I would guess it was blond, with eyes that were probably blue or gray. He was a little older than she, standing straight and firm, very handsome, dressed in a suit with a waistcoat of a different color.

The next picture of them, at their wedding, showed how happy they were; somehow, I was glad for their happiness. It wasn’t something I thought I would ever have, but if others found it, maybe it was out there for me, somewhere.

Four pages on, checking photographs that saw them a little older each time, I turned the page to find one with a baby in her arms. Her smile would have lit the heavens, I’m sure. They were seated together on the very loveseat where I was sitting. My eyes were drawn to the child, whose wide eyes stared directly at the camera; at me.

The visceral reaction I had brought a smile to my face as my fingers traced his features. I wondered what his life had in store for him. It was a silly thought, but I hoped he had been happy.

Shaking my head at the idiotic thoughts running through my mind over a simple picture, I flicked ahead through the images of him growing up, though I never saw one of him with a woman.

Before I knew it, the evening was drawing in, and I was losing the light. I decided to carry this one box downstairs to the lounge and take a longer look at the letters underneath the photos. I yearned to know more of what happened to the beautiful couple; somehow feeling linked to their lives.

Oh, there’s a connection all right!

The tiredness of the end of a long day, helped along by the drinks I had swallowed throughout the evening, allowed sleep to capture me, and I drifted off with the mirror in my hand, muttering the words engraved on the back and now in my mind.

Startled awake by the sound of the door smashing against the wall, I jerked up in shock, watching as he roared into the room, his eyes flashing to mine. A little daunted, I stood and put the sofa between us, unsure of his intentions. He stalked to me, growling under his breath and muttering something about . . . ‘get it over and done with’, before leaping over the barrier in front of him.

Part of me was admiring his physique, the other almost afraid of him, but underneath all that, his low growl and almost furious expression were turning me on. Nothing had done that for years, if, in fact, anything ever had. The feelings rushing through me were absolutely nothing like those I felt with either of my previous boyfriends.

Without a word, he grabbed for me, ripping my nightdress from neck to hem, exposing my breasts and nipples to the cool air of the bedroom. They hardened immediately, drawing his attention. His mouth descended on mine, invading and bruising wherever he touched. His fingers reached for my breasts and tightened on my nipples, just this side of painful, pinching and pulling while plundering his tongue inside my mouth. His leg found its way between my legs, pushing against me, forcing them apart.

And it only gets hotter from there *phew!* If you want to know how the hell that was even possible, you’ll have to read Irrevocable!

The t-shirt was once white, but now it just looks worn and yellow. The robe is not one you’d find in a store these days. The plaid is a mix of browns, yellows, beiges and whites. It hits his knees, but when he bends in the yard to do his morning exercise in socks and flip flops, it rides up. And just to give a nice little visual, he doesn’t always wear those crisp white boxer shorts. The glory appears like morning, like looking into the sun, you have to look away. Not a bone of shame in that one.

The town calls him “Berserky” who likes to wander into convenience stores, rip into beef jerky and gnaw on the sticks in the middle of the aisle. No one would get near because if you did, you’d get whacked in the ear. Sharp and quick. It happened that day a few months back and to everyone’s surprise. Duly noted.

We went about our day, but not before we made sure to watch Berserky casually leave the store, robe waving away behind him. He had a handful of unpurchased beef jerky and vacant eyes. We realized the severity of this situation. He could hurt anyone. He wasn’t tamed.

I’m not sure exactly the day Berserky became this. . . unhinged. I try to think back on it. The days past, in class, when I called him Edward and he’d respond. Sharp green eyes. Sharp jaw. Sharp wit. Like a whip.

Some say he didn’t take his grandfather’s passing well. My guess it’s why he kept the robe. That thinned out cotton never left his grandfather’s shoulders when he was home. Some say it was when his mother died of a broken heart. No one was sure, but it was anyone’s guess. Edward Cullen Sr. was tragically murdered on that fateful day, the bones and skin finding purchase on gravel as he was dragged. Some whisper, here and there years later, that they can still find strands of his hair between pavement cracks, woven in weeds. Thick bronze hair.

The Cullen men were the most fierce, brawny looking males in town. Their looks got them in trouble. Loving or falling for any one of them was like making a deal with the devil. That cut up body of Edward Sr. was still young. Never even saw the age of 40. In those cracks, not a single woven hair was gray. Bronze strong.

I didn’t witness the scene. I don’t remember much anymore. Everyone got an eyeful, though. That body tied to the bumper of a Continental like a new parade came to town. Every elderly, child, man and woman saw an unrecognizable man, naked and bloody. Some limbs missing. A warning to the family.

No, Edward wasn’t well from that day on. That state of mind wasn’t part of his daily life or surroundings. I would know. I’m the only one with a good view inside his windows.

Edward ‘Berserky’ Cullen Jr. is my neighbor.

Now you see why it garnered such acclaim in the contest! You sincerely don’t want to miss this one, ladies!

Bella was always curious of the green-eyed man and outcast in the corner table of the coffee shop. When they finally meet, she is amazed by him, but she doesn’t know what she got herself into. Will the dark side of Edward cause Bella to give up on him?

My COMPLETE offerin’ grabbed me by the throat from the Prologue and hasn’t let go since!

I couldn’t believe the mess I saw.

There was nothing that was upright, except for the TV. The couch was tipped over as well as the tables; broken lamps were on the floor, broken pictures. . . only the artistic ones. The ones of little Alice were still placed perfectly on the wall. Her smiling face looking upon a room in shambles. A room that contained her broken brother who was sitting in the corner of the room.

He looked up at me. His eyes. . . those weren’t Edward’s eyes. Those weren’t the eyes that captivated me the first time he laid them on me. Those weren’t the eyes I tried to remember when I was away from him. It wasn’t the eyes I saw in my dreams, they weren’t the eyes that I saw when he was laughing, and those just weren’t it. I don’t know who’s eyes those were, but they didn’t belong to the man I loved.

“Bella!” He said. He scrambled to get up from the ground but he tripped.

“Edward!” I yelled. He landed on broken glass. “Oh, baby. . . ” I went to reach for him, but there was something telling me I shouldn’t. I clenched my hands at my side.

“Bella, get the fuck out of here. Seriously. I don’t want to see you right now.”

His words sliced through me. Slow, agonizing slices. It wasn’t so much his words, but the tone he used. He was scaring me. There was blood on his hands from catching his fall on the glass. He didn’t even acknowledge it. He wasn’t there. I didn’t know what was going on.

“Edward. . . please don’t push me away.”

He laughed. Laughed. “You want me to pull you towards me? Fuck no. Leave. Seriously, Bella. Go. Now.”

“Edward, what’s the matter with you?” I asked him.

He gripped onto his hair tightly and groaned. “Stop crying! Fuck!” I didn’t even notice I was. I didn’t know where my head was. Everything was a blur.

A forced back a sob. “I’m sorry, baby, I am just worried about you. What’s the matter. . . let me help you. How can I help?”

“You can’t help me. This is who I am.”

“No it’s not. Don’t say that.” I didn’t care what he said. This was not Edward. This was. . . I don’t know, but it wasn’t him. I was in such a state of confusion and hurt that it made it difficult to think straight.

“How do you fucking know? You don’t even know me, Bella!”

“I do know you. Can you stop yelling?”

“Shut up. Just go, seriously.” He said and walked past me, heading towards the hall.

I grabbed onto his shirt to pull him back, and he turned and pushed me off of him. I stumbled back a little, but I didn’t fall. I bet if I did fall on the glass on the floor, it wouldn’t have hurt as much as I was hurting in that moment. Edward had just pushed me. This wasn’t him, but it didn’t stop me from getting angry that he pushed me.

“Edward. . . ”

He got close to my face. “The door is that way.” He said in between gritted teeth. He put his hands on my shoulders roughly and turned me in the direction of the door. “Go.” I had to leave. I loved him but he was being rough with me. What was causing this? Has he ever hit Alice, or Bev? No. . . he couldn’t have.

I looked over at him. His eyes were wild. They were on me, but they weren’t completely focused. He was sweating so badly, I could see the little droplets fall down his beautiful face. His hair that was usually sticking up was falling over his forehead from being wet from his sweat. His face was red. He was livid. He pushed me. This wasn’t him. There was no way.

“Please promise you will be okay.” I pleaded. I wasn’t going to stick around and force the situation.

If he really wanted me to leave like this, I would go. I wouldn’t leave this building though. There was no way in hell. I needed some answers and I needed to check on Alice. She wasn’t doing so well and she must be so scared.

“I’m never okay. It’s something you should learn. Now fucking leave.” He let go of me and turned his back toward me.

He put his hands in his hair and pulled and groaned. He kicked a pile of glass that was on the floor and punched the wall making a hole in it. I covered my mouth from the sob that was threatening to come out.

What has gotten into him?

I turned away from him before I couldn’t help it but stay in the room with him, making Edward more upset. I opened the door and walked out. I shut it softly, and leaned my back on it. It hurt to be away from him, especially at a time like this. He didn’t want me to touch him. He didn’t want to talk to me. He didn’t want me talking to him. He didn’t even want to see me. That wasn’t the Edward that I had grown to know and love.

I needed answers.

Hell’n I haven’t gotten past chapter 13 yet so I’m lookin’ to find out what the hell is goin’ on with Edward, too!

Which fics have been ownin’ you?

Happy Monday, y’all!
